Daily Inspiration: Meet Wynton Huddle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wynton Huddle.

Hi Wynton, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My Name is Wynton and I am the singer/guitarist/existing guy for Wynton Existing. I’ve had a huge passion for music since middle school, I used to walk around with a notepad and write down all the bands I’d see on my fellow classmates T-shirts and look them up. After primitively learning the basics of guitar and singing, I played a few talent shows and learned how to record demos on a free program. Fresh out of graduation, I released a full-length album titled ‘A Thought Has Crossed My Mind’ and birthed the name Wynton Existing. After that, I was in a touring band for a little under ten years. When covid hit, we canceled a three-month-long tour and I decided it was time to part ways with that project. I have always wanted to try out a new music scene in a different part of the country, and Nashville has always had a soft spot in my heart. My old band was originally going to tour to The Revel House in Clarksville, TN, so I thought ‘Hey! there’s a cool music scene, and it’s right by Nashville. Let’s check it out!’ After releasing a new Wynton Existing album 9 years later titled ‘Wicked Fabrications,’ my new drummer and I embarked on a lengthy move from Lancaster, PA, to Clarksville, TN. It’s been a real treat implementing myself in a new scene and meeting many amazing acts! It was undoubtedly the right move for us both, and we are very excited to be soon releasing a brand new Wynton Existing album with both our efforts.

Let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Every road you take is always going to have a few bumps. The bumps that I enjoyed the most were moving to a place where I didn’t know anyone and being sociable and outgoing. I think it’s important to be prevalent and present in any music scene, so going out to shows and networking has been a refreshing breeze. There have been other personal struggles I still battle with, but all I can do is take them one step at a time. None of it matters as long as I can get up on stage and give it my all.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?

I started booking solo showcases at Peppers Mercado in Clarksville, TN. I’ve been doing one Saturday a month, mainly with Clarksville locals, and at least one out of towner, usually from Nashville, just to try and spread the music scene around and help each other out.
As far as myself as a performer mainly specialize in singing, playing guitar, with some other occasional eclectics like Sitar, Bass, and Keys, and for my Wicked Fabrications album, I learned how to play drums! I did my best, haha, and for the more intricate songs, I had the occasional drummer pop by my studio and lay down a take. When Wicked Fabrications first came out, I was most proud of that album. It had a unique vintage surf rock vibe, and to put on a track and say I did it all is such a wild feeling! I’m very proud that I could accomplish a somewhat coherent full band sound.

However, I am most excited about the upcoming album I work on with my drummer/engineer Gavin Gates. Meeting him has been a blessing, and we are both on the same vibe and know precisely what we are both going for! The album I have created with him is a much more tight and crisp Wynton Existing, with a more fledged-out sound and direction. Despite all the albums I have released in my previous band, this upcoming album is the sound I’ve always wanted or the closest it’s been so far. I think it rules.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Be patient. Trust the journey.
