Daily Inspiration: Meet YOUR BEST FRIEND’S FAVORITE BAND

Today we’d like to introduce you to YOUR BEST FRIEND’S FAVORITE BAND. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Born in a fluorescent paint explosion, YOUR BEST FRIEND’S FAVORITE BAND (YBFFB) tells stories that aim to tap into your most profound and emotionally charged memories. YBFFB radiates a bouncy euphoria by mixing the new age alternative rock sonic palette with the rawness of classic singer/songwriter pop to give you the warm nostalgic feeling you never knew you craved.

Sam from YBFFB found the theatre world at early age and fell in love with the art of rich storytelling camouflaged within catchy tunes. YBFFB uses the foundational roots of theater as a way to create compelling, keyboard-based, story-driven, adult contemporary pop. Sam attended Berklee College of Music refining his sound and his skills until tragedy struck.

Sam’s mom passed away in early 2019, and it shook his world. When she passed away, YBFFB knew there was going to have to be a way to persevere, but life without her was unclear. The question of how to maintain the life YBFFB had when such a gigantic pillar of stability was ripped out became a constant.

While undergoing the grieving process, YBFFB turned to his passion for music as an escape. He began writing songs about liberation from sadness; happy songs to help those who have experienced hardship.

Today, YBFFB has already deeply integrated into the music scene in his limited time in Nashville, playing at local venues (The High Watt, The East Room, The Cobra), getting radio spins at multiple stations (ZUMIX, KALW, and WXLO-LP), and creating original songs and TikToks with the Songhouse. YOUR BEST FRIEND’S FAVORITE BAND is the next up & coming sensation with his songs accumulating 200K+ streams in just a few months with all independent promotion. Simply put, YBFFB will bring the energy & good vibes!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
YBFFB song “HOW TO LIVE WITHOUT YOU” is YBFFB’s next song about the loss of YBFFB’s mom, who tragically passed away two years ago. YBFFB stated, “she was the best mom, a great friend, and an all-around amazing person whose time on earth was cut way too short.”

This song is a reflection of the grieving process, specifically, the initial denial and anger. When she passed away, YBFFB knew there was going to have to be a way to persevere, but life without her was unclear.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
YOUR BEST FRIEND’S FAVORITE BAND is self-sufficient. Songwriting, performance, promotion, and production are all done in-house and with friends. But everybody in Nashville is doing that. What really sets YBFFB apart from other bands is their overwhelming positive energy. Our live shows are really where we come alive. The vibe is about audience participation and truly helping make their night and forget about any troubles they’re going through. Something else I think that is unique about the YBFFB fans is the overwhelming sense of kindness & community. It’s incredible to see fans becoming friends based on their love for the music and more importantly the message of spreading joy behind all the songs.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up music was all I ever wanted to do! I started playing classical & jazz piano at 3 years, but when I discovered Bon Jovi & the classic rock scene my jazz days were over haha. I was fascinated how music & lyric could make someone feel as much I did. From that point, music became about connecting. How can we use the tool of music to build bonds with your listener and make them have an experience outside of just liking a song.
