Today we’d like to introduce you to Z1TA.
Hi Z1TA, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have been dramatic and inquisitive since I was very young, which required me to find an outlet for my large emotions and larger questions relatively early in life. I began writing in middle school, which helped me process the unknown, the new, and the overwhelming feelings everyone experiences at that age. This led to me writing fan fiction (embarrassing, but true) and pieces of novels that never left my computer in my childhood home in Atlanta. However, by high school, my writing shifted towards songs, which is the lane I have comfortably stayed in since. I have released several songs now and continue to write for myself and others in Nashville, and I really enjoy it.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My creative journey has been about as smooth as the roads in Nashville, but I use each block as an opportunity for reinvention. I find inspiration through keeping myself on my toes. Consuming art that is surprising, evocative, and authentic, as well as collaborating with other artists, keeps me feeling engaged with my creative process.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a songwriter, a singer, an artist. I specialize in writing about the haunting questions and ugly truths in life, and finding the unifying and empowering thread within the unpleasant. I love catchy melodies and stacked harmonies, and I love listening to other artists and working with them to write their own experience as authentically as possible. I also LOVE singing background for folks, and am always interested in singing live or writing vocal arrangements for recorded songs as well. I am not afraid to be weird and I love to surprise my audience. Basically, I am your local court jester with a tragic backstory. I want to grab your attention by having fun but make you stay by making the hidden parts of you feel seen.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
If you want vocal arrangement assistance, a cowriter, or a background vocalist for an upcoming gig, please feel free to find me on Instagram: @itsz1ta. I also have music available on all streaming platforms under the artist name Z1TA.
