Hi Dimitris , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Being an independent artist, one way or another, does not guarantee safety to your daily liabilities , and this means that you need to work an extra professional role in life, in order to meet your routine expenses. Therefore, spending lots of time, constantly in the studio recording new collabs and albums gives me immense joy and mental fulfillment.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Dimitris Nezis, a Multi-awarded, USA-charting, recording artist & songwriter,
I’m Grammys® & CMAs voting member, Pulse+ Records founder & CEO, Assistant Vice President of Global Marketing and Public relations in International Singers Songwriters Association (ISSA), & permanent judge and member of Advisory panel in Global Film & Music festival USA.
Lately I’ve dropped 2 new songs ” Guiding Light” & “Brand New Life” with Mehran Matin and a collaborative New Age Album with Sacred Circles, 70 artists and musicians from all over the world & FAMES Macedonian Symphony Orchestra, called “A Symphony of Mantras*
All 3 of them projects topped the charts in Greece.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
The first time I felt truly strong was when, at 26, I decided to move and work in London, leaving behind everything, in Athens, where I grew up, including my “old self”.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear of not being good enough. The messages you receive from family, the media, school, society, sometimes pass you the idea, that you have to be “constructed” with a specific pattern in order to be accepted, or even successful, especially if you want to mingle with the entertainment scene. It takes time and strength, to learn who you are and dig inside deep, to become stronger, to stand up and fight and to move forward. Like I did…
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
Obviously, my origin, my roots. I am proud of my Greek origin, and of what this nation has offered to the world and culture, throughout the ages.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I want to be remembered, as a pure hearted man, with big dreams, who, no matter how much they tried to tear him down, mock him, fight him, belittle him, followed them til the end. His only weapon was his values, his whole heart and soul, the power within him, and goodness in his DNA, that kept him trying through it all, to show, that there will be forever people like him, existing in this world. And I will be forever believing in good in everything.
