Exploring Life & Business with Andrea Davis of Pythian Parlour

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Davis.

Hi Andrea, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
We (Andrea & Eric) saw a significant need in our city for a place that could become a family tradition and cater to as many people’s dietary needs as possible. With our previous experiences, we decided we should be the people to conquer that, so when the space next to our office opened up, we took the opportunity and dove in headfirst. We did not, however, want to open just any ice cream shop; we wanted it to be something truly special, with interesting flavors, free of as many unnecessary additives like artificial flavors and dyes, and it had to be homemade, by us, right here in Fayetteville.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As with any great venture, there are struggles. At first, it was getting the equipment. Now it’s trying to continue to introduce people to us. Every day comes with more people who “didn’t know we existed”. You can have the perfect marketing plan, but getting people in the door to try you will always be the hardest step.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We want people to know that Pythian Parlour is something special, something different. We continuously bring fresh new ideas and flavors, while holding fast to our values of keeping as much artificiality out of our ice cream as possible. All of our ice cream is artificial flavor and dye-free, but we also go to great lengths to keep things local and fresh, and cater to as many allergies and dietary needs as we can so that we can be something the WHOLE family can enjoy.

We also keep an expanded menu with acai bowls and tons of drink options, and all our menu items work together to keep food waste to a minimum.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Getting to see families who are building new traditions, families who have never gotten to eat ice cream out because there hasn’t been somewhere safe for the family member with allergies to go. Seeing the connections among family and among community. Overall, becoming a community gathering place.
