Exploring Life & Business with Aria E Farmer of Wild at Heart Horsemanship

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aria E Farmer

Aria E, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Horses have always been a very constant role in my life. In college, my career plan was to become a large animal veterinarian, and I followed that career plan through my undergrad, majoring in Animal
science. However, while attending school, the Extreme Mustang Makeover came to the Miller Colosseum and planted the seed that has grown to where I am today.

After seeing the Mustang Makeover in 2010, I decided to give it my own shot and applied to do the 2011 Makeover. Having been my first show of that caliber, my nerves greatly got to me! Though my horse did great, I fumbled on things I definitely needed to work on more intently. Cue obsession with “wild horses”.

2012,2013,2014 I kept plugging away and competing in the makeovers, getting better and more confident every time. It was then that I knew what my future would entail and that I was made to share these horses with people for the rest of my days. I started my training and lesson program at my family farm in Franklin TN specializing in-but not limiting to- The Great American Mustang.

In 2022 I returned to the Mustang Makeover scene after taking a step back from competing when I had my son. I then had a ton more experience under my belt and it showed. The amazing mare ( Little Lily Sure Shot) and I came out 5th overall!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When building anything from the ground up, there are and will continue to be obstacles. In the horse world, you’re not only contending with animals, you’re also contending with the weather and people. I’d say my biggest struggles were finding and maintaining a structured routine. Working with horses/people requires a lot of physical and emotional input, so always trying to stay level headed and grounded has been a very strong priority for me.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
