Exploring Life & Business with Ashlee Laroue of FertilitEase

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashlee Laroue.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m 38, originally from Michigan, and came to Nashville to attend Lipscomb University on a golf scholarship. I was pre-med with plans to become a doctor and even got into med school—but everything shifted when I started working as a Care Partner at Vanderbilt. That experience opened my eyes to what nursing could be, and I realized that was the path I truly wanted.

I graduated from Lipscomb in 2009, got married in 2012, and moved to the D.C. area for my husbands job, where I completed the accelerated nursing program at George Washington University. My nursing career began in labor & delivery at INOVA Alexandria in 2014, then transitioned to outpatient maternal-fetal medicine at Kaiser Permanente in 2016.

In 2018, we moved to NYC (again for my husbands job)—and that’s where I stepped into the fertility space. I started at CCRM Fertility as an IVF coordinator and eventually became Clinical Manager… right in the middle of COVID, which was as challenging as it sounds. We always knew we’d return to Nashville, and in 2021, we finally made the move back.

After a brief stint away from CCRM, I returned to focus on what I loved most: education. I started as a Clinical Nurse Educator, training new nurses and helping patients understand their journeys through remote educational classes. That evolved into a Fertility Education Specialist role, where I expanded patient education on a broader scale.

In April of this year, I made the leap and launched FertilitEase—something that had been on my heart for a long time. Throughout my career in women’s health, I’ve seen how time-constrained nurses are, how fragmented the system can be, and how often people are left feeling overwhelmed and under-supported.

There are so many places where good education and a dedicated coach could change the course of someone’s fertility journey—helping them feel more in control, empowered, and informed. That’s what FertilitEase is all about: dedicated, holistic support from experienced nurses who’ve seen it all—and are here to walk with our clients every step of the way; from thinking about conceiving, through postpartum, and everywhere in between.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’m only about a month into officially launching FertilitEase, so I’ll let you know! But honestly, this idea—and even the name—has been in my heart for over two years. It just never felt like the right time to take the leap. Now that I’ve finally done it, I keep thinking, “Why didn’t I do this sooner?” But I also believe things happen when they’re meant to.

One of the biggest challenges has been stepping into roles that are totally new to me. I’m not a natural salesperson or marketer, and social media definitely doesn’t come easily. Figuring out how to communicate the value of FertilitEase—without sounding salesy or disingenuous—has been tough. I genuinely just want to help people navigate their fertility and pregnancy journeys with more clarity and confidence. Translating that passion into messaging that resonates? That’s something I’m learning day by day—and probably one of the first things I’ll offload as FertilitEase grows!

Another challenge has been scope. I have so many dreams for what FertilitEase could become across the women’s health space. But right now, I’m learning how to scale things back, focus on where to start, and make it sustainable. Defining that first offering, packaging it, and learning how to talk about it in a way that truly connects—that’s been a big part of this early journey.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about FertilitEase?
FertilitEase is a concierge fertility and reproductive health education service created to bridge the gaps that so many people experience during their trying to conceive, fertility, pregnancy, and postpartum journeys. We offer 1:1 personalized coaching, dedicated on-demand texting support, and virtual injection teaching—all led by experienced, compassionate nurses who have worked across fertility clinics, OB & maternal-fetal medicine offices, and labor & delivery.

What we specialize in is nurse-led, real-world, holistic support. We help clients navigate their journey, treatment plan, understanding labs, prep for procedures, manage early pregnancy anxiety, or just talk through the emotional side of it all. We’re also here to help clients ask better questions, understand their results, and advocate for themselves in a system that can be overwhelming. With on-demand texting, our clients have a nurse in their back pocket to ask, “Is this normal?” or “What does this mean?” when they need it most. And if they’re overwhelmed by their medication protocol, our injection teaching sessions can walk them through it step-by-step.

What sets FertilitEase apart is our deep clinical expertise paired with a truly human approach. We’re not just delivering information—we’re offering calm, confidence, and clarity during what can be one of the most overwhelming chapters of someone’s life. We’re here to help our clients feel more in control, less alone, and fully supported by someone who’s been on the inside of this system.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the trust we’re building. FertilitEase was created with intention: to offer meaningful, personalized care that goes beyond what the traditional healthcare model allows; empowering individuals to own their fertility journey.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that just because the system works a certain way doesn’t mean it’s working well for people. Throughout my years in women’s health—whether it was labor & delivery, high-risk pregnancy, or fertility—I kept seeing the same thing: patients were overwhelmed, confused, and craving more support than the system allowed us to give.

That’s really what pushed me to start FertilitEase. I’ve learned that people don’t just need more information—they need someone to walk with them, to explain, to listen, to care. And I’ve also learned that action is better than perfection. Taking the leap into entrepreneurship wasn’t easy, but waiting for the “perfect” time would’ve meant never starting at all.

Trusting myself, staying grounded in purpose, and being willing to figure it out as I go—that’s been the most important part of the journey so far.
