Exploring Life & Business with Ashley Johnson of Precise Fashion

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Johnson. 

Hi Ashley, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I have always genuinely had a passion for fashion even as a young girl I remember how precise I was about what I was wearing and how it made me feel. I know it may be cliche but the saying “if you got it, you got it and if you don’t well you just don’t” holds true value. Although fashion has always been a thing for me it wasn’t until my early 20’s I decided that I wanted to take things to the next level. In what ways could I create a lifestyle for myself doing what comes so effortlessly to me. After high school, I found myself attending University of Memphis where I completed my bachelors in health. Left field right? After receiving my bachelors my life took a complete turn. While receiving my degree I spent some time experimenting with how I could utilize/express my sense of fashion. I started out recreating looks and customizing pieces. I was still just paving my own way and figuring it out with uncertainty.

A year after graduation, there I was working as a server in a restaurant with no clear direction. I was still living at home, not working in the field I thought I would be, and not to mention I was also going through a break up of over 8 plus years. You can say that I was in shambles but I still had my faith. In the midst of it all, I was blessed to be able to move out of my moms home and landed me a brand new apartment. I was still working as a server but things were for sure coming together for me then BOOM hits COVID 19. However, strangely COVID was actually the best thing that happened to me. I lost my job but I was blessed with better because I was truly able to take the time I needed for myself to figure things out and in that moment is when I took my leap of faith. I started to prepare and plan to launch my very own clothing boutique (Precise Fashion). Fast forward, I have now been in business for almost a full two years and I feel my best! This journey has been amazing with every obstacle that has come my way I have prevailed and overcame. I have learned so much in so little time and it feels good to say I did it, I did it on my own and I see nothing but greatness for my future with my business. 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I will say for the most part it has been pretty smooth. Don’t mistaken that as I have not had any obstacles/struggles along the way because I definitely have. The main struggle I have had is finding balance. We have so much on a daily that we have to cope with and maintain so running a business added on to that list. I didn’t have any previous experience with running a business and sometimes I found myself being discouraged and even unmotivated sometimes. I have spent hours, days, and months creating the best image I can for my brand. Staying consistent no matter the struggles is what has kept me going! I’m learning on a day to day basis on how I can improve. 

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Precise Fashion is an online women’s clothing store that launched in June of 2020. While we are primarily online we have also participated in many local pop up shops in the Memphis, TN area. If not familiar, a pop up shop is a local event for surrounding entrepreneurs/business owners that come together to promote and/or sale their products. They are great for businesses that are seeking more exposure and are aiming to get their products out to the public. Precise Fashion primary goal is to adhere/accommodate every woman in every way possible. With that being said, we aim to provide our customers with a range of versatile clothing and styles. Fashion should not be boring, well at least we like to think that your outfit sets the tone for you. We want our customers to feel confident in their fits while telling their story. Who are you? What does your outfit say about you? No matter the occasion, I guarantee we have a look for you! I am proud to say that not only has my brand grown so much in what seems like so little time but that we have also grown with our customers and we will forever aim to the provide the best satisfactory possible. 

Any big plans?
I always like to say that Precise Fashion is a big deal and that’s exactly what the future holds for us, Big on BIG. With growth and preparation we hope to open our first very own storefront here in the city while maintaining our online identity. While, we are now able to ship to all 50 states we see global shipping happening for us soon. All in all, I am taking business day by day and taking every opportunity I can to get my business where I see fit.
