Today we’d like to introduce you to Brielle Cotterman.
Hi Brielle, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been in the PR world for more than a decade. Prior to that my background was in sales & marketing and before that, I spent years speaking on stage and competing in the Miss America system. When I first started in publicity, I worked with the top marketing & PR firm in Boston. I worked primarily with authors and professional athletes and did everything from pitching the media to ghost-authoring subject matter books and crafting corporate communication strategies.
When I founded my own firm, I scrapped the idea of a traditional PR agency and created what looks more like a hybrid of a corporate-level finishing school, a branding agency, and a global PR/marketing firm. You see, I realized years ago that most have expectations of results that will come from pursuing PR and publicity. However, when there is no strategy to support specific results, they are nearly impossible to reach.
I am a World’s Grand Champion Equestrian, and my competitive nature along with my unique combination of experience led me to create something new and different for my clients. A way of crafting a brand that truly honors who they are and what they stand for as a means of garnering media attention and creating connections with those who they are meant to serve.
If there is one thing I tell my clients often, it’s “share your story!” So, when I finally took my own advice and claimed my own story and the power that comes with it, I began to share my story of surviving attempted murder and domestic violence and my entire business shifted. We now serve leaders with a cause. Those seeking to impact the world and their bottom line. We do things differently than most PR firms, we craft every campaign through a sales and marketing lens with a focus on authentic storytelling.
Our clients are regularly featured in the world’s most prestigious publications, on television, on the TEDx stage, and on top-rated podcasts.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
My road has been filled with ups and downs that have ultimately led me to where I am today. As a survivor of domestic violence, I spent many years filled with shame, but through years of therapy and healing practices, I have become an advocate speaking out on behalf of survivors and working towards a world where intimate partner abuse is not tolerated.
I have moved on to live a happy life, have healthy relationships, and recognize that everyone faces challenges. Ups and downs are simply part of the human experience, and until we begin the conversation around these topics, we will never create the positive cultural shifts that are so needed.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Brielle Cotterman Media is a global PR firm specializing in serving leaders with a cause. We support our clients from start to finish, establishing their foundation of celebrity, offering full-service media training, publicity pitching and placement, and strategic leveraging plans to give their publicity Life long after it goes live. We also offer professional speaker representation.
Our firm is the best at supporting our clients in defining the three stories that allow them to create connections and inspire action. When done properly, every media opportunity has the potential to be used as a powerful sales funnel that brings your ideal audience one step closer to you!
We are known for making dreams come true and giving our clients a clear-cut path to be who they truly are, sharing their authentic stories and working with their soulmate-level clients.
There is nothing better than helping people to step onto the world’s stage, finally, get the media they have always dreamed of, or watching them begin to fill their sales cycle with ease, because for the first time ever, they have a strategy to share their story in a way that is real and genuine without over-sharing.
When we prepare our clients to appear on television, be interviewed on top podcasts, or support their being featured in GQ, Cosmopolitan, Forbes, or Inc., we really shine. It is not uncommon for leaders to pursue media without any training or objective feedback on their story, image, or personal brand. You don’t see that at Brielle Cotterman Media. We believe that being ready for the opportunity is just as important as actually getting it! We ensure that each of our clients is prepared, confident, and comfortable, which makes every opportunity a marketing dream!
Our VP of Media Training is Heather French Henry, who is a former Miss America, has worked for the Department of Defense, and has appeared on Oprah, Good Morning America, and basically every other major platform in the world. From public speaking to live television, our experience gives us the ability to prepare each of our clients to be so media savvy that they can handle any situation that may arise.
We represent clients in pitching and placement for print & online publications, television appearances, podcast guesting, speaking opportunities and to literary agents.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and are any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
I have learned that the world really needs messages of hope.
Stories of overcoming and authenticity are important, now more than ever. We recognize that consumer behavior continues to become more and more focused on a social cause and genuine connection, and there’s no better way to communicate that than through an authentic story in a respected media outlet. Earned media continues to be the gold standard in credibility and that is what we help our clients to secure every single day.
