Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheyanne Williams.
Hi Cheyanne, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
The Story of a Black Sheep Chapter 1: The Horseback Egg Hustle
When I was about nine years old, my siblings and I launched our first venture: delivering farm-fresh eggs to our neighbors.
We didn’t have a delivery van. Instead, we had a go-kart, about seven horses, and a dream. We would ride our horses two or three miles out into the neighborhood, balancing cartons of eggs, and sell them for about a dollar a pop.
I had absolutely no clue at the time, but that was the official launch of my entrepreneurial journey.
Chapter 2: The Nursing Home Reality Check
At 19, I got my Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification and stepped into the world of long-term care and rehab facilities. My first assignment? Nine months on a dementia floor.
It was an immediate eye-opener. The first thing I noticed was that the place was disgusting, yet families were paying over $9,000 a month for their loved ones to be there.
Over the next couple of years, I worked at over 20 different facilities all across Tennessee. I saw the entire spectrum—from the lowest-income state facilities to ultra-high-end nursing homes where people were paying $10,000 to $15,000 a month for a private bedroom. And for fifteen grand a month, they got decent care and, most of the time, their meals on time.
During the height of COVID, I was 20 years old and making up to $32 an hour as a 1099 contractor in these facilities. Around this same time, I also managed to get my Esthetician’s license. Because the nursing home hazard pay was so good, I decided to put my skincare career on hold for a bit.
But after two and a half years as a CNA, I hit a wall. I had never spent so much time thinking about death. It did something incredibly heavy to my soul and sent me into a depressive spiral. I was having a full-blown existential crisis at 21, so I quit the nursing homes and went full-time as an esthetician.
Chapter 3: Skincare, Carpal Tunnel, and a New Prayer
I’m not going to name the place I worked for as an esthetician, but let’s just say they didn’t exactly set me up to thrive. (Spoiler: I thrived anyway, because that’s just what I do).
By 2024, I decided to start chasing my nursing degree. I ended up quitting my esthetician job because, honestly, the passion wasn’t there, I didn’t enjoy it, and—to top it all off—I had developed carpal tunnel. I still keep my license active, but doing facials all day was not the move.
At this point, I was praying hard. I asked God to give me something I could “go to town on”—something to work tirelessly toward that would give me a massive sense of personal purpose.
My dream was to eventually open a functional health and nutrition clinic to keep people out of nursing homes and hospitals in the first place. But while I was stuck in school, I still needed something I could do now to help people in a big way.
Then, the algorithm (or rather, Providence) stepped in.
I had been building up my social media accounts for a while, posting regularly, when someone slid into my DMs to tell me about their business. I got started the exact same day.
The business? Life insurance you don’t have to die to use.
Chapter 4: The Epiphany
The second I heard about “living benefits,” my mind flashed back to all those nursing home residents I cared for—people who were miserable, isolated from their families, and physically unable to pay for the quality care they actually deserved.
I saw life insurance with living benefits as the ultimate solution.
> Here is the reality:
> Nobody wants to talk about end-of-life planning. Talking about dying is not fun. But do you know what’s even less fun? Dying when you’re completely broke and unable to make yourself comfortable on the way out. It’s a whole lot more uncomfortable to be thousands of dollars in debt than it is to take one hour to sit down, look at a financial plan, and protect yourself.
>
Ever since that realization, I’ve been on a mission to educate people my age—and honestly, anyone who will listen. The ultimate goal is to keep people out of those devastating financial situations, and that work starts now, while you are young, healthy, and in your 20s, 30s, or 40s.
Why the “Black Sheep”?
People always ask me why I named my business Black Sheep Financials.
Honestly? I’ve always been a bit of a black sheep. I was always the quiet, slightly weird kid who would drop random, sharp one-liners and go back to being silent. I felt highly misunderstood—which, ironically, is exactly how modern life insurance is treated.
Plus, as a Christian, the sheep analogy keeps my mind anchored to the Bible and keeps Jesus at the center of my business.
Just Getting Started
I just celebrated my 24th birthday on July 2nd. I was born in Michigan, but I’ve been in Tennessee since I was eight years old, and I love it here.
Through this business, I met my husband, and together we’ve educated hundreds of people—many of whom are now clients. I want to see the people I love, and even the strangers I may never meet, thrive in life, not just survive.
As someone who used to spend countless nights staying up worrying about the future, I can’t tell you how much peace of mind I have knowing that if I ever got sick with cancer or another serious illness, my family and my livelihood are protected. I want that same peace of mind for everyone else.
They say I’m “self-made,” but I promise you I didn’t do this alone. I’ve had an army of mentors guiding me: Jim Rohn, Tony Robbins, Mel Robbins, Myron Golden, Stephen Bartlett, Charles Stanley, my incredibly supportive in-laws, my husband, my MOM, and, of course, Jesus Christ.
Nothing was handed to me. I work hard day and night. And I’m just getting started.
I’m pretty pumped.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been hard- but it’s so fun. I’ve grown so much. I’ve cried a lot and had sleepless nights ! But I’m actually not in any debt over it!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I specialize in living benefits. Life insurance that’s sexy, is life insurance you don’t have to die to use- life insurance that’s for the living.
Living benefits can cover costs for cancer, stroke, heart attacks, severe burns and 20 other illness and conditions.
I’m most proud of the amount of educational content I provide on my social media platforms.
I want people to know that I will do everything it takes life insurance wise to make sure they don’t end up miserable in a nursing home, stressed about finances and worried about their families wellbeing when it comes to money.
How do you define success?
By the amount of time I have to spend time with other people building deep meaningful relationships.
