Today we’d like to introduce you to Cole McRae.
Hi Cole, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I, Cole McRae, started Prestige Landscape Company back in high school as a simple way to earn extra money to support my passion for racing motocross. I continued adding loyal clients during my years in college while studying buisness and marketing. What began as a small side buisness gradually grew over time, evolving into the full-service landscape maintenance company it is today. Now, Prestige Landscape Company proudly serves both residential and commercial clients, offering everything from routine maintenance to custom design-build services that create beautiful, functional outdoor living spaces.
What sets us apart is captured in our name—Prestige. We stand out not only through the exceptional service we provide to our clients but also through our commitment to inspiring and developing the people within our organization. Our mission is to deliver a level of service that reflects true prestige, while also treating our team with the same respect and care. We believe in investing in our people, creating opportunities for growth, and building a culture where everyone has the chance to succeed.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey was filled with countless challenges, but one of the hardest parts was finding the right people. For a long time, I allowed opinions dictate how the business was run, and in doing so, I lost control of something I had created. I found myself trapped in a company that was being driven by people who didn’t truly care, all because I was too afraid to take a stand. Everything began to change when I made the decision to fully commit to becoming a strong leader. I embraced personal growth, leaned into our core values, and started building a culture where those values truly guided everything we do. Now, I want to build leaders in our organization to continue the growth of the company and also my employees.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
The types of books that have inspired me have evolved over time as I’ve grown and matured as a business owner. Early on, classics like How to Win Friends and Influence People had a major impact, helping me understand the fundamentals of leadership and human connection. As my journey progressed, more strategic reads like Profit First and Multipliers have shaped the way I approach growth—teaching me how to scale effectively while staying financially healthy and empowering those around me.
