Today we’d like to introduce you to Dawn Minkley.

Dawn, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Dawn and I am the face behind Sparkle and Shine.

I started this business last year while going through some personal changes in life and knew I needed a way to support myself and my children.

I have always been a stay-at-home mom so cleaning is something I both enjoy and have become good at. Starting my own business gave me the opportunity to build something for myself while doing what I love.

I appreciate everyone who trusts me with their home and supports my business! I truly aim to always make the homes I service Sparkle and Shine.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Cleaning your own home and running a business to clean other people’s homes are two different things.

Although I am confident in my abilities and offerings, running a business has been a new concept for me and at times has been difficult to navigate. This is my first time running my own business and learning how to build my clientele was a struggle as well.

I hired Jessica Hampton with Nicole Martin Digital to help me with building my brand awareness because word of mouth only gets you so far. I do feel like I am learning each day how to be more effective on the business side while still providing my clients high-quality service.

As you know, we’re big fans of Sparkle and Shine of Nashville. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Sparkle and Shine are more than just a business. I truly put my heart and hard work into every job that I do. I run this business by myself, which means that I personally make sure each job is up to my standards. My clients say that I go above and beyond and they are always pleased with the results when they get home.

What I believe sets me apart from other businesses is that I truly enjoy what I’m doing and I want to make sure that when my client walks into their space, whether it be a home they are living in, a home they are getting ready to move into, or a home they are getting ready to sell, they feel like it is brand new.

I offer a wide variety of cleanings from weekly cleanings, to deep cleaning, to new construction cleaning, and no matter what the job is, I make sure it meets all of my client’s standards and expectations. I know that without my clients I wouldn’t be where I am today and I am so thankful for each client who trusts me with their home.

We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I am a proud mother of four with one grandchild, I am also a survivor of domestic violence.

Personal fitness is extremely important to me. I compete in bodybuilding competitions to help keep my body healthy and in shape. This company was my way of proving to myself I can achieve anything and build it from the ground up.
