Today we’d like to introduce you to Daysha Hill.
Hi Daysha, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
As a little girl, I’ve always been interested in my natural hair, and hairstyles I can do on myself for school. I learned how to braid my own hair into box braids as an adolescent, even though it took forever.
I also started making my own U-Part Wigs, Bleaching them in different colors and Installing them. My mom used to braid my hair down for me and I used to do the rest.
In high school, I became interested in my natural hair texture, so I started becoming literally obsessed with buying hair products from the target, my grandma used to take me there all the time just to buy my hair products.
I started wearing my hair in puffs, and curly fros, watching YouTube videos, and flat ironing my hair. The best time era I can remember, I kept that until freshman year of college at The Tennessee State University.
While I’m college, I kept up with making my U-part wigs, my natural hairstyles, custom colors on my u-parts, etc.
Now since my Junior year in college I’ve been making my own Frontal Wigs/Closure Wig, Bleaching and doing the hair, installing it, making YouTube videos about hair, and just fell in love with hair overall, especially with keeping my natural hair healthy and retaining length on my hair.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Some days have their ups and downs, sometimes you mess up sometimes you are fully satisfied with the outcome of your work. It all depends on how dedicated you are to your art.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I run a business selling 100% Virgin hair extensions and included my other business in it which is Wig Construction, custom color Sew Ins, etc.
When I first came up with the idea to sell hair extensions, I kept thinking of ways to stand out, and what came to me was the textures in the hair itself. I think we all look at the hair and say “oh okay Her hair pattern is cute” but never take the time to actually appreciate the different hair textures.
So my business is run on “featuring new textures” I will have a Texture featured on the site and that specific texture would be on sale for that time until I place another texture to feature. I work to push out great quality, great business, and reasonable prices.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Yes, working hard isn’t hard to do. Sometimes we’re too stubborn to do it and too worried we won’t succeed to try.
The pandemic taught me that when you have enough time on your hands, you’ll realize hidden talents and what’s out that for you to try, even if it takes forever to succeed.
If you’re passionate about you’ll be fine.
