Exploring Life & Business with Elizabeth Bruhin of Skn Shack

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Bruhin

Hi Elizabeth, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started practicing skin care over 15 years ago in San Diego, Ca. I began working in the day spa setting at hotels like the Hilton and then moved onto a private spa location. I then opened Turn Skin Care, my first boutique skin care spa. After 3 years I opened Lizzy B’s Skin & Lash in Coronado, CA where I lived. This location was next door to a very well known and regarded facial plastic surgeons office called Coronado plastic surgery center. We began networking and I found myself wanting to work and learn about the medical aspects of skin care like post surgical, regenerative and corrective treatments. I began working on post and pre surgical patients and helped them to achieve long lasting results from their skin care treatments and regimens. After 7 years in that location and after the covid-19 pandemic, we decided to move our family to TN, so I had to sell the business. I took a break for about 6 mos after we moved and began to work for 2 medical offices in the Franklin, Tn area. One was a plastic surgeons office and one was a functional medicine and anti-aging clinic. After getting aquainted and more established, I decided to open another boutique med spa location in Thompsons Station, TN called Skn Shack in 2024.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
it was a struggle on several occasions. Once when i was getting started in aesthetics because I had always been involved in sales, not hands on aesthetics so it was scary to start something completely new to me. Another time was after having a child because I had to take some time off and then balance work and family life as well as being a new mom. And then also when I started down the path of owning my own business rather than working for someone else. That was a whole new journey because you had to grow a business for yourself and not someone else so it was quite intimidating but I was up for the challenge.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Skn Shack?
I am the owner as well as medical aesthetician at Skn Shack in Thompsons Station, TN which opened this location in May 2024, We are a boutique, patient and relationship focused small med spa in Williamson County focusing on custom skin care treatments that target and correct aging skin, damaged skin, acne (teen and adult), and hyper sensitive skin, We also offer specialized services such as weight loss, permanent make up and injectibles like botox and filler., lash lifts and brow lamination,

We like to work with patients/clients to create an atmosphere of trust and friendship so that we can overcome any issue you are having with a whole body medical and holistic response. All of our team has over 30 years combined experience in skin care, facial injections, weight loss and permanent make up so you will always get the best advice and service from a professional with a highly educated background,

The service that I personally specialize in is chemical peels and microneedling. I believe that these 2 services can change the clarity, texture and fullness of your skin without having to go under the knife.

We are licensed to carry medically dispensed skin care lines as well as organic and sensitive skin care lines specific to a person’s needs. We sell ZO Skin Health, Allumier MD, Yuka & Face as well as Hale & Hush which caters to patients undergoing chemotherapy and radiation.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I have always been a risk taker particularly when investing in my business. I believe if you work hard and love what you do. it will always come back to you through the people you serve and take care of. Purchasing new medical devices and product to sell has always been a somewhat scary proposition because of the costs involved and having to now market it all online. I am definatley not terribly knowledgable in the tech space so i have to rely on others to do some of those bits and pieces and tends to feel risky to me as well since I’m not in control of that part.
