Exploring Life & Business with Erica Jackson-Lynch of She Strutz Shoetique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Jackson-Lynch.

Hi Erica, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
First, thank you for having me. Being a native of Tennessee (Memphis) it’s most definitely a pleasure and honor to speak with you all. I remember always having a love for shoes, especially heels. In my high school days, I would literally take my entire Sonic check and tips, get off work and go to Rainbow and if I had a pink outfit I had on the pink shoes (laugh out loud).

One time, I snuck a pair of shoes in the cart and my mom wasn’t paying attention and she bought them. I couldn’t wait to change shoes at the bus stop. I thought I was soooo fly until my mom came to the school and took my shoes. I remember saying that day, when I grow up, I’m getting myself a shoe store, and here we are.

The push behind the launch of She Strutz was the struggle to find an exclusive, trendy but reasonable shoe. My theory has always been the shoe can make or break an outfit.

Our choice of the shoe with any outfit should be nothing short of a statement piece, I wanted to have that choice for every woman and her style of shoe, and I feel comfortable in saying I have accomplished that.

I initially started She Strutz with 5 pairs of shoes selling on Poshmark. There was one particular brand of shoes that I would always buy for myself. One day, I came across that vendor and it has been uphill from there. At She Strutz, we strive to make the ladies feel comfortable enough to step out of the black shoes and be trendy and “do too much” and be perfectly confident while doing so.

There is so much more in store for She Strutz and I can’t wait to share!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not. Obstacles and struggles are a part of the journey to success. Of the many challenges I’ve faced with my business, I look back and realize I was my biggest obstacle.

There were times I would have a page full of what I thought were amazing ideas and attributes that could take She, Strutz, to the next level and really stand apart from other shoetiques but I sat on the ideas time after time. I was in my own way in a major way. Aside from that, it took me a while to navigate to my audience or client base which is truly important in a business.

I knew the merchandise was a hit, I just couldn’t seem to get it in front of the right audience. I had to learn to become extremely uncomfortable to be comfortable and speak about my brand. To this day, I am still working on coming from behind the camera completely. I have two amazing accountability partners that help me along the way.

Shoutout to them!

As you know, we’re big fans of She Strutz Shoetique. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
When She Strutz comes to mind, I want women to immediately think of a shoe that will always make a statement, great quality, and most importantly she confidently knows that whenever She Strutz, she owns it!

She Strutz Shoetique is a chic and trendy shoe brand that offers bold and fashion-forward footwear for the risk-takers. The line of footwear we carry is designed to turn heads and can help elevate any look for any given outing. In addition to our edgy shoe collection, we are excited to announce we will be adding clothing this spring.

Our mission at She Strutz Shoetique is to consistently deliver chic, trendsetting shoes for every woman, making her feel comfortable with every STRUT she takes.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
It’s funny you ask.

I’m currently reading a book that was recommended to me by my mentor, “Building A Story Brand” by Donald Miller. Great read, as it discusses engaging with your customers, being relatable but most importantly the story behind the brand.

Aside from that, I listen to Woman Evolve, Oprah’s Super Soul, TD Jakes, and Earn Your Leisure podcasts.
