Exploring Life & Business with Eva Leersnyder of Mixed Empire Dog Training

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eva Leersnyder.

Hi Eva, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I got started in dog training professionally in 2022; however, I have done dog training prior to that, which included training my own Diabetic Alert Dog and training my dogs in agility.
While I was working as a veterinary technician in 2022, my manager, who also worked for a local dog training business, said they were hiring. From their, I trained with Canine Trade Group for a year and then branched out on my own.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road, but it has been an exciting and adventurous road! Some struggles along the way have included marketing on my own and partnering with local businesses. Moving states for a year and a half was also a struggle, because of getting used to a whole new market and lifestyle. However, this has all helped my business and I in the end. At the end of the day, the rough roads make the smooth roads seem boring!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I offer private and personalized in-home dog training in the Nashville area and beyond. Thanks to Zoom, I am able to train in all states and all countries!
I specialize in aggression, fear/anxiety, and Diabetic alert dog training.
Reviews are given after each lesson so that the clients have guidelines and homework throughout the week. Additionally, I am available throughout the day, 7 days a week for my clients.
My brand is called Mixed Empire, because all people and their dogs are different; however, in working together we can create an empire of people establishing better bonds with their dogs.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Connect with others, not just the dogs! This is super important in a critical world. If I lack the capacity to connect with owners and other dog trainers, then it would be a much harder and less enjoyable road. Be willing, open, and ready to build other people; it’s a must!
