Today we’d like to introduce you to Isaac Shrum.
Hi Isaac, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Nashville Flight Training was started in 2010. One of my best friends who is now the owner and president had purchased the company in 2014 and I joined the company soon after in early 2015. I had previously graduated from Western Kentucky University (Go Tops!) in 2014 with a degree in business (marketing/management). My friend asked me to join the company and wanted me to help him grow it into something special. The stars aligned and I jumped on board. I knew very little about aviation, but I was excited at the opportunity to learn a new industry and apply my business education and skills. The flight school was definitely in its infancy stage at that time with only a few airplanes and instructors. It has only grown exponentially since then. As of today, we have two locations, we have served over 3,000 customers in addition to having a fleet of fleet 10+ planes, 2 FAA-certified simulators, an FAA testing center, and several more team members. I love working with my team here and taking care of our customers – all the while having fun! It has been an amazing journey!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
No journey is perfect. Overall, it has been a wonderful and rewarding experience, but the road has definitely been filled with challenges along the way. Some of these challenges are industry-wide, some are experienced within the business. You just have to roll with the punches. 2020-2021 was by far the most challenging time, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But these challenges were not unique to us. Every company experienced challenges in one form or another. We had to adapt and be flexible just like everyone else. At the end of the day, we do our very best to take care of our customers, provide a safe and secure training atmosphere, and foster a fun, family-friendly environment for our team members and customers.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Nashville Flight Training?
Nashville Flight Training is a nationally recognized, award-winning flight school. Originally started at BNA in 2010, we have now expanded to becoming Tennessee Flight Training with two locations – BNA (Nashville, TN) and MRC (Mt. Pleasant, TN). We do one thing and one thing only – we teach people how to fly! We teach people how to fly for recreational, business, and career purposes. We offer flexible flight training on the individual’s schedule and pace. With a fleet of 10+ planes, 2 FAA-certified simulators, an FAA testing center, and a team of more than 15 instructors, we have all the tools to train a person from beginner to professional pilot. What sets us apart is not only the quality of instruction, the safe and reliable fleet but also our location. Being located at BNA provides our students with the best overall training experience. We have worked tirelessly to foster our brand and believe that we offer the best flight training in the nation. When you come to our flight school, you are surrounded by a family-friendly atmosphere that treats you with respect and care. We care about the success of our students and do everything we can to help them succeed. Our job and pleasure is to create safe, knowledgeable pilots who can apply their pilot skills in a variety of ways!
What do you think about luck?
Interesting question. Personally, I don’t attribute anything to luck, fate, or chance. Nothing replaces hard work and dedication. You get out of life and business what you put in. In addition, we operate our business according to Christian principles, which we are certain has been instrumental in providing us with the growth and success we’ve experienced. If you commit your plans and ways to the Lord, he will provide for you.
