Exploring Life & Business with Jerry Reynolds of Pappy’s Knives & Antiques

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jerry Reynolds.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have been a custom home builder for 30 years as well as being in the building and construction industry for 50.
My dad and I collected knives for as long as I can remember and in the early 1980’s, we owned a furniture business called “The Trading Post.”

In the 2000’s, I started collecting again, not just knives but vintage and antique goods. Around 2015, there began a lot of social media from collectors about locations of good knife stores to stop by on their vacations or travels. As more people were inquiring, I saw an opportunity to venture back into retail, one that would not only include antiques and vintage items but provide an opportunity to fill the need of knife collectors and shoppers who would travel to and around the Nashville area. On April 20, 2023, we opened Pappy’s Knives & Antiques in a 4,000 sf historic building on Main Street in Springfield. Almost a year later, on April 1, 2024, we moved down the street to our present location in another historical building with 21,000 sf with potential for more growth.

We became a platinum dealer for the most recognized and collected Case XX brand and the premium tactical brand SPYDERCO. Today, Pappy’s is one of the largest vintage Case XX stores in Middle Tennessee.

I love pocket knives, but Pappy’s is so much more than knives. You can get a small town experience with plenty of southern hospitality. A perfect place to shop for gifts of all kinds. Our success comes from God and the great customers we meet and serve every day!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Our greatest challenge has been trying to help revitalize our Main Street shopping experience from ground zero with not a lot of support or cooperation from our city. We are hoping this will change in the near future but until it does, we will continue to be a grateful business for those who are finding that Pappy’s Knives & Antiques is a great place to find treasures.

We’ve been impressed with Pappy’s Knives & Antiques, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
