Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Acevedo.
Hi Jonathan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I studied accounting back in Connecticut during college. Got my first job in NYC, after 2 years, that was more than enough for me. I decided to move somewhere with less snow and traffic… At least there’s less snow
After a few years in Public Accounting at larger firms, I learned that having a boss would likely limit the progress I wanted to make and the type of work I was interested in. I was already a licensed CPA in TN at that time, so it was easy to fire up an LLC and get started.
I balanced a full-time job and growing the business for about 18 months, once business became more demanding than my job it was easy to see the next move. I resigned in March 2023 and have been running the practice full-time since then.
We had the chance to help hundreds of clients in the Nashville area with their tax and accountings needs
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’ve spent the better part of my life the last 4 years growing the business to where it is. Hardest part is the personal sacrifice of lifestyle & time but I keep the long term goals in mind.
Accounting and tax business has this unique feature where there’s such a need for it and not enough providers. Learning to be proactive and a step ahead is always the hardest part of it all. We aim to help everyone we can, but capacity and workload can be tough to balance. Sadly we can not always help everyone that reaches out.
I like to think my skillset today is far beyond where I started. Truth to be told it needed to improve. We’re constantly learning and refining skills to be more effective at serving clients.
People always bring us something new so I am always learning new skills.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
When I was a kid I always wanted to help people make decisions that mattered. As I grew up I realized how emotional people can get over their financial situations and how much that affects their families and community. It was very important to me to figure out how to build stability in my own life in order to be able to plan for the future.
So starting from there, we aim to help business owners and individuals make decisions that best impact their financial well-being. The biggest expense most people will pay in life is their tax bill. We focus on business structure, tax formation and filing, federal and local compliance, and overall accounting.
When meeting a new business owners, typically I want to know everything I can about their business. It is how I can best help them. We try to be proactive and identify potential issues before they become real problems.
I am most proud of the impact we’ve had with individuals, being able to solve a major problem for someone and give them peace of mind. The best feedback we can get is “you’ve made life easier”.
That’s something this business can provide where my past career did not, actually helping someone in a real way.
What’s next?
What a tough question. The biggest need for the business is staffing, we will need to hire in the future to sustain workload and continue being able to take on new clients.
From a owner perspective, I want to get myself out of the day to day operations a bit more to focus on direction and growth, that’s how we will help more people and benefit the community. We love to support local small business.
