Exploring Life & Business with Joy Yancey & Sarah Dubler of Ivy & Grace Decor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joy Yancey & Sarah Dubler.

Hi Joy & Sarah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
We are Joy Yancey and Sarah Dubler, owners of Ivy & Grace Decor. Our goal has always been to provide clients and their guests with magical and memorable experiences by creating beautiful spaces with handpicked and thoughtfully crafted decor to rent. An added and fun bonus is our unique horse trailer photo booth, which never fails to produce heartwarming smiles and laughter.

Ivy & Grace launched in August of 2019 with our adorable mobile photo booth full of southern charm. Her name is Steel Magnolia, but those who love her call her “Maggie”. Maggie started off as a 1960’s red rust bucket of a horse trailer, and we lovingly transformed her into a gorgeous ship-lapped statement piece. She brings fun to any party adding personalized photo strips for guests to take home and copies for the client to treasure always as well as an extra splash of decor.

In 1994, we met at Aviano High School in Italy where both of our fathers were stationed with the US Air Force. We were instant besties! Our husbands were also assigned there with the US Army and were roommates; meant to be right?!? After their military service, we all ended up in Murfreesboro, TN where we both had our firstborns just a few months apart. After careers had taken us to different states and countries, by the grace of God, 25 years later, our family’s bond has continued to grow.

Sarah has a successful home decor company, “A Little Bit Of This,” where she has proven to be extremely talented in design and style. She is an entrepreneur with confidence in her abilities. Joy was a successful executive with Target for 18 years before taking a leap of faith to follow her heart. She brings the business-savvy mindset.

What started out as two women daydreaming over a campfire and wine has turned into a business where we can be a part of other people’s dreams coming true. There’s no doubt that God has led us to serve others, including our clients and our community, and we are beyond thankful and excited to share Ivy & Grace with you.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Not many startup businesses have a smooth road and we are no exception. Marketing and getting our name out to those we want to serve was not something either of us were expert at. What we have learned along the way is to be successful, we have to surround ourselves with those in the industry that share our passion and faith.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We have a love for people and design! Therefore, it’s our deepest desire to ensure that we have a unique selection of decor to help bring our client’s vision to life. With several personally designed pieces, including arches and centerpieces, we offer ideas and items that are truly unique, trendy and classy. Along with that, we carry sweet vintage furniture pieces, some from past generations of our own families, to help create beautiful settings.

The showstopper of our business is our horse trailer photo booth. Her name is Maggie, and we have designed her with beautiful lighting, ship lapped walls and even a gorgeous bar on the back. Our clients absolutely love the custom photo strips that their guests take home as keepsakes, and we make sure to keep special copies for our clients to enjoy forever. It is so amazing to be a part of the heartwarming smiles and laughter created in Maggie.

From the very beginning of our journey, we have always known that it is only by the grace of God that we are able to run the business of our dreams, and it is our responsibility to give back to our community, to do good with this wonderful gift. We share our business with organizations to fundraise for causes close to our hearts. This past year we were able to create a special giveaway wedding to a deserving couple with the help of 22 other amazing vendors, and we are so excited to say we have the team on board to do it again. These events allow us to share love, faith, and hope and help us create a brand of which makes us proud.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
We are lucky to share some of the same childhood memories. We both started our first jobs at Burger King, glamorous right? It was for us. We can remember singing in the kitchen to Salt N Peppa, and we still do that to this day.
