Exploring Life & Business with Kenny Lynn of EXIT Southeast

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenny Lynn.

Hi Kenny, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been passionate about coaching, leadership and recruitment even from a young age working as a softball and baseball coach, taking a team to the Little League Baseball Championship and winning! And, you’ll see I’m also passionate about winning and being #1! As an entrepreneur, I’ve owned several businesses before entering into a partnership with Harpeth Mortgage and my present-day partner, Stacy Strobl. I loved the mortgage industry and didn’t think I would ever leave it, growing from two loan officers to 52 and licensed in four states. My original plan was to grow this business. However, when researching ways to diversify, EXIT Realty got on my radar.

In 2011, we bought our first EXIT franchise in Madison, Tennessee. With only nine franchises in Tennessee, I was convinced we needed to buy the franchisor rights to state of Tennessee thinking it was a game-changer and everyone should want to do it. It was the tail end of a recession and everyone thought I was crazy but it was a vision I could see clearly. It took a lot of blood, sweat and tears to get where we are today – consistently one of the top regions in North America and #1 in franchise sales for five years in a row.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
There were a lot of obstacles and challenges in establishing our regional business, EXIT Southeast. Today, we are EXIT regional owners for Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee and regional directors for Texas. Anytime you start a new business, it is challenging finding the right people for your team but you have to go with your gut instinct backed by good research. My biggest challenge is overcoming the constraints of the industry, helping people dream big and achieve that. Helping people overcome the obstacle of themselves, if you will. I love getting the talent out of them that didn’t realize was possible. Getting the best out of people and helping them be better than what they were making all of the obstacles and adversity worth it!

I’ve overcome several personal obstacles or challenges. Drag racing is a passion and hobby of mine and in 2017 had a big setback wrecking at over 135 mph. Overcoming this obstacle, I took my EXIT residuals was able to build brand new car. I love proving the system works!

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Culture, team support, technology and driving ambition to be the best definitely sets EXIT Southeast apart. We’ve set up a system for success with the best support, comprehensive training and cutting-edge technology to back it up. If you fail, you just aren’t trying and I believe strongly in this. I want our team to be the best in the country so we can help transform lives. I truly think our real estate brand was created for launching new agents and helping seasoned veterans create retirement benefits which can be passed on to a beneficiary, something unheard of in our industry. We also aren’t publicly traded company and don’t have a board raising fees. Uniquely, as a regional owner, I can provide support, training and resources which isn’t happening in other organizations.

As a leader, listening to others is also key and where I find a lot of inspiration. Some leaders definitely go wrong by not doing it. Ultimately, my desire in being #1 is something I want for everyone in my orbit and helping others achieve this is something I’m very proud of. My company started in a recession which was difficult and now we are in the middle of the COVID crisis kicking butt and taking names by selling over 50 franchises in the past two years. And, that’s getting started in August 2020! There’s a reason and I can’t wait to share more of this opportunity.
