Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristen Edwards.

Hi Kristen, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I was a barber at the PX barbershop at FT. Campbell KY. My husband, Tom decided to go to barber school and get his license too. His very first job was working for the original owner of Holiday Barber Shop (opened in 1967).

When the original owner retired he sold the barber shop to my husband and me. We are a true all-American mom & pop, veteran-owned business.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has absolutely not been a smooth road. There were so many unforeseen expenses. And throwing away money on every advertising outlet we could find. Many were expensive failures.

Finding a fantastic, reliable staff took almost ten years to achieve!

Established in 1967 we are the oldest barbershop in Clarksville, TN. The shop is located in the historic downtown river district. We are a quirky 2-floor barbershop that specializes in traditional barbering with a modern twist.

We are family-friendly, open Sundays, and specialize in beards, fades, and shaves!

Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Purchasing the barbershop was a huge risk for us. We had no idea if we would sink or swim! Owning a business is not for the faint of heart! Taking risks is part of the job.

Trying new services, products, and price points- it’s all a risk! The key is to pick yourself up and not give up when you fail.
