Hi M.K., we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Certainly! My name is M.K. Harris, and I am a Nashville native, which is like a  unicorn these days. With a background in managing high-profile households and  supporting small business owners, I have over 15 years of experience in diverse  industries such as hospitality, finance, education, customer service, event  planning, and client management. I have also had the privilege of working in the  recording industry, gaining valuable experience in day-to-day operations and  other areas of the business. 

Inspired by my family’s exceptional organizational skills and the support they  provided, I decided to become a personal assistant. Witnessing the impact of  dedicated assistance, I was determined to offer the same level of support to  others. This led me to establish Peace of Cake, where I prioritize building strong  relationships with clients and anticipating their needs even before they express  them.  

I invest time in understanding them on a deep level, which allows me to  proactively address their needs even before they express them. This personalized  and intuitive service is what sets me apart and enables me to create a constant  reality where peace of mind is not just a luxury but a fundamental aspect of daily  life. By providing personalized and intuitive services, my goal is to eliminate any  sense of overwhelm or isolation my clients may experience. 

My journey has been fueled by a genuine love for serving others and ensuring  their peace of mind. I firmly believe that individuals should never have to  compromise on enjoying life to the fullest. As an integral part of my client’s  team, I handle the details, allowing them to confidently pursue their passions  and rest assured that everything is taken care of. 

Continuous growth and learning are essential to me, which is why I hold a  personal assistant certification from IAP Career College and actively engage with  professional organizations like the International Association of Personal 

Assistants (IAPP), the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Music City  Concierge Association. 

Additionally, I serve on the Board of Directors for Conway Care Packages, a non profit organization in Memphis, TN. 

Staying updated with industry trends, my local community and actively engaging  with professional organizations allows me to provide exceptional service and  bring the latest knowledge and skills to my clients. 

Overall, my journey has been shaped by my diverse skills and experiences across  various industries. By leveraging my ability to anticipate needs, I empower my  clients to embrace life fully. With my presence as their steadfast companion,  they never have to face any hurdles alone. Together, we synergize to render their  journey even more seamless and delightful.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Building Peace of Cake amidst COVID-19 pandemic has undoubtedly been one of  the tallest mountains I have ever encountered. Starting my business in January  2020, little did I know that the world would come to a standstill just a few  months later. The abrupt implementation of lockdowns and restrictions  introduced unexpected changes that both tested my business model and put my  capabilities as a new entrepreneur in the spotlight. However, despite the  daunting road ahead, I remained unmoved by what was going on around me. 

In the face of the pandemic’s unprecedented circumstances, I embraced a  journey of resilience and innovation as a business owner. I channeled my focus  into sustaining my business. My experiences required me to dig deep and draw  upon reserves of resourcefulness that I didn’t know I possessed. I adapted my  approach, weaving creativity, and compassion to serve my clients in novel ways.  Launching new products designed to offer solace during these trying times, I  responded to the prevalent stress and anxiety with a deep understanding of the  collective sentiment. Navigating these stormy waters not just surviving but  thriving, I found strength in my commitment, strategic thinking, and genuine  empathy for the individuals I serve. The bravery it took to continue pursuing my  dreams in such chaos was a moment of awakening. A time for me to do something that I loved, and really develop my craft and purpose for being on this  earth. 

As I continue this journey, I am filled with gratitude for the lessons learned and  the strength discovered. Navigating the intricacies of launching a business,  acquiring clients, and flawlessly executing operations, all amidst the backdrop of  a global pandemic, has posed a remarkable trial of my faith. It is within trying  times that true character is revealed. I am often reminded of the triumphs and  setbacks, the moments of doubt and unwavering conviction, and the sheer  resilience that has propelled me forward. Overcoming a host of challenges has  resulted in me growing both personally and professionally. 

Finally, If I could give someone a word from Big G-O-D, it would be to believe in  YOU! Even when you don’t feel supported. Never underestimate the power of  perseverance and adaptability. Life, especially in the business world, often  throws the unexpected our way. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed and discouraged  but remember this: the path to success is rarely linear. In my own journey, I’ve  learned that giving up is never the solution. Instead, embracing change and  pivoting, when necessary, can lead to remarkable transformations. The ability to  adjust your course, to see setbacks as opportunities for growth, is where true  strength lies.  

So, when faced with roadblocks, remember that they’re not dead ends, just  detours. Embrace change, be flexible, and never give up on your goals. Your  willingness to pivot could be the key to unlocking the doors of success that  you’ve been tirelessly working towards. You are powerful and can do anything  you set your mind to.
