Exploring Life & Business with Maecy Rayborn & Ciera Rowland of Rolaine Boutique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maecy Rayborn & Ciera Rowland.

Hi Maecy Rayborn & Ciera Rowland, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
We’re cousins who have always shared a special bond, and that connection has only grown stronger as we’ve pursued our dream together. Ciera graduated from Birmingham-Southern College with a degree in Elementary Education and spent a year teaching, while Maecy earned her degree in Integrated Marketing & Communications from Ole Miss.

At the same time, we both found ourselves at a turning point—ready for something new, something exciting. It all began with a simple text from Ciera: “Want to start an online boutique?” Just one week later, we were on a flight to Dallas to attend market and start buying inventory.

Everything came together quickly, but we knew in our hearts it was the right move. Now, almost a year later, our boutique has taken us on the most incredible journey—traveling to markets in New York, Las Vegas, Dallas, and Nashville, and participating in every pop-up opportunity we could find. Maecy and Ciera got engaged just one week apart in December, and planning our weddings side by side has made this season even more special. Being able to weave that joy into our business by creating our own bridal collection while we are both brides made it all the more memorable. One of our proudest moments has been serving as a vendor most weekends at Wanna Spoon Cereal Bar on 12th South in Nashville.

We’re just getting started—and loving every minute of it.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like any business, we’ve faced our fair share of challenges. With Ciera living in Freeport and Maecy based in Nashville, managing inventory and staying organized from two different locations hasn’t always been easy—our cars have definitely seen their fair share of road trips!

Being small business owners comes with highs and lows. Some days are full of exciting wins and strong sales, while others can feel discouraging. It’s all part of the journey and we have leaned into our faith and our amazing parents who have supported us from day one and we learned that nothing will mess up God’s plan. We started this business from the ground up with no prior experience, and every day is a new lesson.

Our biggest challenge has been learning how to run and grow a business in a way that works best for us. It hasn’t always been smooth, but it’s been worth it—and we’re proud of how far we’ve come.

We’ve been impressed with Rolaine Boutique , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Ciera and Maecy have always shared the dream of opening a family-owned business—something meaningful that could one day be passed down to future generations. The name Rolaine is a blend of Ciera’s last name, Rowland, and Maecy’s middle name, Alaine—a cherished family name. And just like that, Rolaine was born. Shoutout to Scout, Maecy’s fiance who came up with the name!

Our boutique is a true reflection of both our love for fashion and the deep roots of family. We created Rolaine to be a place where women can come to feel confident, inspired, and uniquely themselves. From our curated bridal and seasonal collections to our patriotic American collection and fresh weekly arrivals, we’re passionate about offering something for every occasion and every style.

As we continue to grow, our goal is to expand our inventory and collections to bring even more fashion-forward pieces that our community will love. This is just the beginning, and we’re so grateful to have you on this journey with us.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
The fashion industry is constantly evolving, and the boutique scene is expanding rapidly every day. Our goal is to continue growing within this dynamic industry and, one day, open brick-and-mortar stores in multiple locations.
