Today we’d like to introduce you to Mayasir Tran.
Hi Mayasir, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I have always had dreams of being an entrepreneur ever since I was a little girl. I grew up in Memphis, TN raised by my mother and grandmother. I watched the women in my life strive to support me. My mother owned and operated a produce stand and my grandmother was a professional seamstress. I was very blessed to have examples of strong and hardworking women in my life.
They always encouraged me to believe that I could do anything. When I graduated from Central high school in 2005, the future seemed bleak. It was very hard to find a job out of high school with no prior experience. Jobs were also scarce at the time because the country was in a recession. I lost hope and figured my life would consist of working dead end jobs to make ends meet. I worked very hard in my early twenties, but I could never seem to get ahead. I got fired from my bank job I had at the time (2014) and was on the brink of homelessness.
My best friend lived in Nashville at the time and invited me to come live with him and his husband until I got back on my feet. I drove to Nashville with my cat in my lap and $50 in my pocket. I had no idea what God had in store. My best friend ended up helping me to find a job. Things started to look up after about 10 years of suffering financially. I was finally able to save money out of my paychecks and live comfortably! In September of 2014, I met my now husband of 8 years while he was at work.
He was delivering packages to my home (He used to work for UPS) He asked me on a date and we got married 6 months later! I never knew that marriage was a possibility for me. I was so blessed to have found the love of my life. We eloped and we didn’t exchange rings until we were almost married for a year! Rings did not matter because we loved (and love each other so much). After two years of marriage, I found out I was pregnant! My dear Grandmother passed away 6 months into my pregnancy. I became very depressed because the woman who raised me never got to meet my daughter. This was a very difficult time for me.
After the baby was born, I became a housewife! Being from an impoverished part of Memphis, TN, I never knew something like that would ever be possible for me. During my time at home (being a housewife) I became very depressed. Being a new mom, suffering a death in my family, and not working anymore took a huge toll on my spirit. I didn’t know what I wanted out of life anymore besides being a mom and a wife! A few years later, my family suffered a devastating blow when my husband lost his logistics career after 14 years of service. We had to figure out a way to support our family.
One day during the pandemic, I got an idea to sell croc charms on ETSY! What started off as a project out of a laundry basket in my living room, turned into a 6 figure business. I was making $15,000 a month on average from my Etsy store. God gave me a glimmer of light! I got my sparkle back! He showed me it was possible to turn something very small into something great with creativity, dedication, and persistence. We took a leap of faith and opened Music City Drop Pack and Ship TM as a means to serve our community. We noticed there was a need for a shipping store in our community when I had my e-commerce business.
We had to drive 20-30 minutes away to drop off UPS and FedEx packages for my online shop! My company ships and receives packages for all of the major shipping providers (UPS, FEDEX, USPS, and DHL) Music City Drop is the first black woman owned store in Greenbrier, and I am very proud of that. It took a lot of hard work, tears, adversity, and sacrifice to make this business a reality but I persevered. I am so proud that God gave me an opportunity to change my life around and the tenacity to keep going. If. I can do it, you can too!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No road worth going down is going to be smooth. This is what life has taught me, anything that comes too easy, will not last because it doesn’t build character and teach you lessons. I have suffered so much along the way, but I never complained because I knew that somebody the strength in my character would supersede the obstacles.
Coming from an impoverished part of Memphis was challenging but I always had a big imagination and lots of creativity. Seeing people suffer around me encouraged me to be the best wife, mom, and businesswoman that I can be.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I suggest that every new entrepreneur read the 7 Spiritual Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra.
Also, make sure that you keep what I call “a sacred spiritual routine” to pour into yourself so that you can fuel your business. I gently follow the same routine each day which largely consists of prayer, meditation, stretching, completing asks for my business, and showing gratitude for my family each day.
You don’t have to follow a complicated routine to stay grounded, but definitely get one so that you don’t lose track of what is important (self first). Whatever you do, just make sure it is not bigger than you.
