Exploring Life & Business with Megan Cochran of Cochran Admin Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Cochran.

Hi Megan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Fifteen years ago, I began my career with the State of Tennessee. After becoming an established Executive Assistant, I decided to try out what the private sector had to offer and took on an incredible job opportunity at an Interior Design firm as their Business Office Manager. I found a new love in the interior design industry! My professional experiences not only provided me with a wealth of knowledge in administrative and operational services but also purchasing/procurement for interior designers.

But then came the dreaded Covid-19, and I had to resign from my job to focus on caring for my children. As someone who has always been independent and enjoys working, my husband suggested I look into virtual assistance, which I wasn’t quite sure about at first. After attending webinars, watching videos, and learning various software, I pushed through and started my virtual assistant business 3 years ago. Much to my surprise, I not only learned a lot of software, but I also tripled my income within 2 years! Although I’ve gained more and more clients along the way, those who have been with me since the beginning push me the most to keep going!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As a virtual assistant business owner, I have experienced countless challenges over the years. From having to stay on top of the ever-changing virtual tools to dealing with different industries, owning a virtual assistant business can be a tricky and complicated endeavor.

However, I wouldn’t suggest it any other way. Learning to work with the right tools and cater to a suitable client base has been immensely rewarding. I’ve gained invaluable experience and grown my business significantly. It has been a journey that I would recommend to anyone who is energetic, creative, and loves the satisfaction of overcoming a challenge.

Our team comprises moms and military spouses who prioritize excellence in every action. Words such as “ordinary” are not part of our vocabulary. Rather, whatever we do, we strive for the highest level of delivery, achievement, and execution. We provide various services, from administrative and operational management to marketing, event organization, and interior design procurement and purchasing management.

Who else deserves credit for your story?
As any mother and wife, I am eternally grateful to my husband and children for being my most incredible supporters and encouraging me to make the most of my chances in life. Each individual I have met on my journey has had an impact on how I approach my professional life.

I must thank Leanne Lewis for taking me under her wing as an Executive Assistant while I was fresh to the scene, as she was the one that truly taught me everything I know, and each of my clients for entrusting me with the job of helping grow their business. It truly takes a village to make a business successful, so I am thankful to everyone who has played a role, whether big or small, in getting me to this point.
