Exploring Life & Business with Merricks Berthelsen of MixitwithMerricks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Merricks Berthelsen.

Hi Merricks, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I come from a very traditional southern family, so I’ve always enjoyed cooking, serving, and sharing a meal with others. After moving to Nashville in 2018, I found myself always taking pictures of my food and wanted a place to showcase them outside of my personal account. I was also trying to find another way to get involved in the community & meet new people.

I jumped headfirst into the “foodie world” on Instagram and haven’t looked back since. The Nashville Foodie community is so incredibly kind, supportive and it has been awesome getting to know everyone.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
You aren’t going to please everyone, so the negative DM’s and comments can be difficult to read. It’s also a lot of trial and error with shooting & posting content (example: date, time, hashtags, angles.) You can put a lot of time and work into a post and it’s discouraging when it flops.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am the Marketing Director for a legal database called CaseMetrix. We are a Settlement & Verdict database that Personal Injury Attorneys use to help evaluate their cases. My mother started the company 14 years ago in Atlanta after being a Paralegal in the field for almost 30 years. I handle all of our social media accounts, attend legal seminars, and handle a little bit of client support & legal research.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Honesty and being true to yourself! Social Media can be a love/hate and it’s always important to stick to your roots & continue to be yourself. If you love a particular type of food, share it. If you go to the same spot every single week, post about it. Share what matters to you and what brings you joy!
