Exploring Life & Business with Mollie Gray

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mollie Gray.

Hi Mollie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m a 5th generation Nashville Native. Both of my parents have struggled with mental illness, and my father passed away when I was very young. So at an early age, I saw my challenges as a motivation to make a better life for myself. I learned that everyone has control over their own lives and I never understood why people surround themselves with toxic energy and ultimately make life harder for themselves. I realized that this was repetitive behavior within my lineage and I knew I had to break the cycle.

I’ve worked in customer service full time since I was 15 years old. I graduated from Hillsboro High School in 2010 and went on to complete the culinary program at Nashville State. I worked in restaurants starting at 18 years old from the front of the house to the back of the house then I transitioned to management, events, and marketing. I worked at Vanderbilt University Medical Center for prostate cancer research development to elevate my career but quickly ran back to the hospitality world after a year and a half.

I left this role to become director of events for a local restaurant group and that’s when I started Nashville House Mom. Two months after I launched my business, Covid hit. People told me I was crazy and that I should give up, or wait until things “settled down.” However, I was determined and continued my business which led me to the start of another business, Gray Selective. No day of mine is the same, I call them my unicorn adventures and I couldn’t be more thankful for what my journey has turned into.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The hardest challenge throughout my life has been understanding and not victimizing a situation. Resilience is something I practice every single day. Understanding that life gives me what I can handle and that my mountain is to show other people that they can also move their mountain.

I am the person that I am because of my circumstances. As an adult my biggest goals are to command the lifestyle I choose to have, live to serve my life’s fullest potential, and support the community through passion and hard work.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
First and foremost, I’m a small business owner. Everyone knows that the roles and responsibilities that come with that job are endless. Within my business, I’m also a Traveling Concierge, Private Chef, Project Manager, Event Planner & Lifestyle Coach. I’m the go-to person and the fixer. People give me a situation and I figure out how to produce their vision, or fix the situation.

I develop an in-depth knowledge of your needs and focus on helping you achieve the most for your vision. My services are customized and centered around exceeding the goals of my client’s expectations. I am most proud of developing trust with my clients in order to help them get the most of their vision. The services are judgment-free and extremely honest, my goal is to create a comfortable environment for my client.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Everything happens for a reason, stay positive, and be grateful for everything, it’s all a blessing, it’s just determined by your outlook on the journey.
