Exploring Life & Business with Nikki Campbell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikki Campbell.

Hi Nikki, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am originally from Charlotte, NC. I had low self-esteem in college and that’s what drew me into makeup. After receiving a vision from God, I moved to Nashville to peruse a better life. I became homeless my 1st year in Nashville. I did a lot of praying and worshiping. My prayers help me get a job and my own apartment.

I worked at night and worked at MAC cosmetics during the day. I eventually took on MAC full time. After 2-3 years working full time at MAC, I branched off to working for myself and becoming a full-time makeup artist, named BluArtistry. Since then, I have worked with gospel artists, country artists, secular artists, and actors.

I have worked with: Bobby Jones, CeCe Winans, Marvin Winans, Marvin Sapp, KeKe Sheard Jonathan McReynolds, Kim Burrell, Nicole C Mullen, Priscilla Shirer, Lisa D Harper, Jimmie Allen, Rapper YoYo, Angie Stone, Laz Alonzo, and many more.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Low self-esteem and homelessness have been my biggest struggles. It wasn’t until I gained a true relationship with God, that I was able to overcome it. Prayer and worship kept me lifted and pulled me through

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about BluArtistry/Blufedoras/BluArtistry Cosmetics?
I am a professional makeup artist. I started in 2008, I work mostly in the industry doing makeup for award shows, performances, TV appearances, and shows.

I am currently CeCe Winans personal makeup artist and lead makeup artist on the TBN show, Better Together. Two years ago, I started my own makeup line, BluArtistry Cosmetics. I shaped it to products I feel are necessary to my client’s needs.

This year, I started my own hat line. I felt inspired by a gospel artist who always looked complete once he applied his hat. I fell in love with hats and now you will barely find me without one.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Finding your purpose of who God created you to be and walking in it.
