Today we’d like to introduce you to Rick Struble.
Hi Rick, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 2011 I started ER Computer Services in my home in Arizona. We were the only computer repair shop in Santa Cruz county. We managed most of the produce warehouses’ IT equipment for about a year. Unfortunately there were a few bad seasons due to drought and storms in Mexico and the produce companies wound up making cuts due to budget constraints.
We continued working as a mostly break-fix operation until 2015 when I had to relocate to Phoenix in order to find a full time job to maintain the business, over the next few years we wound up losing all but one of our clients due to financial hardships.
In 2020, my wife and I moved to Hermitage TN. We tried to revitalize the business, but faced many difficulties due to the pandemic. In 2021, my wife passed away and my daughter wound up in Vanderbilt’s children’s hospital for 3 weeks, before being transferred to Scottish Rite in Atlanta for another 4 weeks. She has continued to have therapies multiple times a week.
Thanks to my wonderful fiancée, I was able to rebrand the business into Hive Technology Solutions in 2024 and have been able to devote time to getting it off the ground while working full-time doing construction work on Ft. Capmbell. On December 12th 2025, after being laid-off just before Thanksgiving, we signed our first long term client contract and are looking forward to a successful 2026.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not. We’ve dealt with financial struggles, death, illness. Paid advertising is impossible at this point, so all outreach I do is what I can do for free, cold-calling and social media posts.

We can only be as successful as our clients, and we know that finances are a big deal, so we try to be affordable and we also offer referral programs for our clients which allow them to remove up to 50% of their monthly costs. If you’re signed with us and refer someone else who signs, you get 5% of their monthly bill taken off of yours, permanently, and you can do this multiple times until 50% of your bill is paid by the referrals.
