Today we’d like to introduce you to Ricky Ray Taylor.
Hi Ricky Ray, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Miami/1969 – My Dad was a stand-up comedian, Mom-a Filipino-Tahitian Dancer – 6-months later they flew to Vegas to get married – Upon returning to Miami, they had me – With a 5 piece band in tow, the JERRY & LANI SHOW hit the road – 18 months later in Oklahoma my sister was born – So, Mom & Dad, my little sister & I along with 5 half brothers & sisters & 5 bandmates – We hopscotched from city to city around America through my first 2 years of school (12 schools by the end of 2nd grade) – At “11” yrs old (in Gulfport, MS where I would ultimately call home), I began Boxing – Numerous State & Regional Boxing Championships ensued amidst a full-ride Boxing Scholarship (funded 100% by the United States Olympic Education Center) which was granted me when I was 19. 140 fights later, upon reaching the Finals of the Ringside World (Boxing Tournament)-I finally stopped fighting. I worked in casino’s, radio & television stations before moving to NYC in 2000. For 21 years I trained fighters (amateurs & white-collars) while living in NYC – Myself & my (highly-intellectual, beautiful & resilient) wife fled NYC (to Franklin, TN) during the COVID hysteria. I’m still training fighters while working at one of the most extraordinary Golf Courses in America (FireFly) while my better half works as a certified Health Coach.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Has it been a smooth road? IMO when life runs too smooth for someone, for too long, they’ll tend to ease up on the gas. In turn, we both were looking for the challenges awaiting us in a new town, with new careers & an entirely new set of friendships. In a sense, the challenge of it all has kept us churning for new & better opportunities! I was one of the busiest Boxing Trainers in NYC, conducting interviews & providing my professional insight for articles – now, here, I’m just one of the guys churning to share & learn life-lessons with people. Nicole spent 30+ years perfecting her craft – now she’s onto other things. The bumps in the road are keeping us sharp!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
“When a person takes what they’re passionate about and intentionally instills the same fervor within others”
CASE IN POINT:
(God’s honest truth!)
As I’m organizing in my brain as to how I can word my definition of “SUCCESS”, I got a text from a long time client of mine (we trained LIVE for 6 years and now on Zoom for 5 years). The best way to describe him is a hard-lined, somewhat nerdy, athletic, Wall St Tycoon.
He just sent me a video of Mike Tyson.
My guy is absolutely enthralled with the sport of Boxing!
Will he ever climb into the ring with another fighter? No. Never. Yet, I make him feel that he can .. if, that is, he really wants to 🧐
But guess what … “I” deposited that seed into his heart and even helped him fertilize it along the way.
THIS RELATIONSHIP IS A SUCCESS!.
