Exploring Life & Business with Ron Hodges

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ron Hodges.

Ron Hodges

Hi Ron, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Before transitioning to real estate, I had a successful career in corporate America as a senior accountant. However, I felt a strong desire to pursue something more independent, and given my longstanding interest in real estate, I expressed this to my agent while purchasing my own home.

That agent happened to be Sally Barkley, who is now my esteemed business partner in the real estate industry. Together, we lead our team, the Barkley & Hodges Group. Sally graciously mentored me after I obtained my license, and our collaboration was so effective that it ultimately led to a partnership.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When I began my real estate career in 2014, it took me 7 months to successfully close my first transaction, which happened to be a daycare property. During my first year, I managed to close around 1.5 million dollars in sales while still maintaining my role as a senior accountant.

I quickly realized that in real estate, success is truly what you make of it, so I dedicated myself to continuously expanding my business. I have always been committed to learning and seeking guidance from agents who have achieved greater success than me. This mindset has been instrumental in my ongoing growth and development within the industry.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Barkley & Hodges Group at Compass?
As Nashville natives, Sally Barkley and Ron Hodges are endlessly passionate about the local community, its neighborhoods and homes, and the friendships they’ve created throughout the years, both as real estate professionals and as proud residents. With that in mind, it should come as no surprise that the duo, known among savvy real estate clientele as the Barkley & Hodges Group, consistently ranks in the top 10% of agents in all of Nashville.

Focused on nurturing quality, long-lasting relationships above all else, Sally and Ron have managed to build a business that’s comprised almost entirely of repeat and referral clientele. Committed to raising the bar for outstanding service in their every endeavor, Sally and Ron leverage their rare level of knowledge and expertise to create smooth, rewarding experiences for everyone from first-time homebuyers to seasoned property investors. At the end of the day, what matters most to them is ensuring that every one of their clients can find their place in what they feel so strongly is one of the world’s greatest cities to call home.

Recent success also extends to selling units at Hyve, an 83-unit short-term rental building. To date, they have sold all but 12 units, quickly becoming the go-to team for STR sales and completing their fifth building for this developer. Ron’s participation in the American Dream Network (ADTV) on TV further elevates their visibility in the community. This show, highlighting Nashville’s real estate, neighborhoods, restaurants, and businesses, gives people an inside look at all the best things Nashville has to offer.

What makes you happy?
My greatest sources of joy are my wonderful family and the opportunity to travel. Providing for my family and ensuring that they want for nothing brings me immense happiness. Seeing the smiles on my daughter’s face and my wife’s face fills my heart with joy.

Additionally, traveling provides me with the chance to relax and recharge. I love experiencing the diverse offerings of the world, as it enhances my personal growth by fostering a greater understanding of others and their cultures.
