Exploring Life & Business with Slow Burn Bookshop Tonya Pineda of Slow Burn Bookshop

Today we’d like to introduce you to Slow Burn Bookshop Tonya Pineda

Hi Slow Burn Bookshop, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been an avid reader since I was a kid, by my teens I was deep in dystopian ya’s. And by my 20’s found myself in the romance world.

Opening a bookstore was never the plan but when this idea came to me I just had to see it through.

July of 2024 I opened Slow Burn Bookshop a mobile romance bookstore.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
So I have never owned a retail buisness. I only have experience with service based businesses. So that was the true challenge is just finding the answers and figuring out my way in this world.

Also the build out and challenges of a mobile bookstore were a pain.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Slow Burn Bookshop?
Slow Burn Bookshop is a mobile romance bookstore. We are pop up based and set up shop in Nashville and the surrounding cities, like Clarksville , Gallatin even sometimes Kentucky!

We are your typical romance bookshop, that’s Norma pink and bright colors and all about love. You’ll notice our shop is designed with a darker aesthetic! Think dark academia meets European bookshop.

We sell new and used books . Book accessories and merch, anything from kindle cases, book sleeves , bookmarks to stickers and shelf decor!

Our book selection (I may be biased) is unmatched in this area! I tend to stock a lot of indie authors and titles that you can’t just pick up at your local target. We love all the romance tropes over here. From dark romance, to romcoms, Romantasy to Horrormance, monster romance to straight smut, we have it all !

Slow Burn is female and Black & Latina owned !
