Exploring Life & Business with Tammie Osborne of The Sapphire Suite

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tammie Osborne. They and their team shared their story with us below:

Tammie Osborne

Tammie Osborne embarked on her career as a nurse before making a pivotal transition into healthcare technology. With a remarkable 30-year journey in healthcare and technology, her professional evolution is marked by an unwavering commitment to facilitating change and improvement in the healthcare IT landscape.

As a nurse turned healthcare technology leader, Tammie possesses a unique insight into technology’s influence on operations and guiding organizations through adaptation. This insight has proven instrumental during her tenure at Bridgemore IT Consulting, where she has held executive leadership roles, leading key initiatives for top-tier organizations and contributing to the Department of Defense’s EHR Modernization Project.

However, amidst the challenges brought on by the pandemic, Tammie found the inspiration to create The Sapphire Suite, a thriving hub for female entrepreneurs and leaders. This innovative space not only leverages her executive leadership and change management experience but also serves as a community that nurtures women, spanning generations and industries, offering support, and fostering their entrepreneurial spirit.

Her journey from nursing to healthcare technology to entrepreneur exemplifies her adaptability and desire to make a lasting impact on both the healthcare IT industry and her community. Tammie lives in Franklin with her husband Rene’ and has three children, Jordan, 21, Anna Jo, 20, and Caleb, 18.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In both companies, being a solo entrepreneur is a challenge because all of the risk and decision-making lies with you. This responsibility brings increased stress because decisions impact not only your livelihood but also those of your team.

Other challenges: being a female owner of a healthcare IT staffing firm when the majority of your client decision makers are male. Also being a small consulting and staffing firm and competing against high-volume, large staffing firms.

Challenges when opening The Sapphire Suite included securing a meeting with commercial space owners/real estate brokers due to a lack of understanding of the concepts. Coworking is not real estate/office space but rather connection and community.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The Sapphire Suite is a thoughtfully curated coworking and private event rental space for women in Franklin and Williamson County, Tennessee. Designed with luxury and sophistication foremost in mind, the space offers members and guests abundant amenities, exclusive programming and events, private meeting rooms as well as content inspiration that encourages women to build and become.

Founder Tammie Osborne launched The Sapphire Suite during a successful career as a corporate healthcare IT leader and entrepreneur, with a vision to create an environment in which women can work (free from distraction), create (in a space that fosters inspiration and empowerment) and thrive (among like-minded women eager to lift others and help all women and generations succeed).

The Sapphire Suite is also available for private business and social events to allow more members of the community to experience the beauty and elegance of the space.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
The coworking industry is well-positioned to continue to grow over the next 5-10 years. Companies are recognizing the value of providing options for employees to retain top talent.

Due to the pandemic, the remote concept was proven effective and mutually beneficial for both employees (flexibility) and companies (real estate savings).

While coworking does not work for all industries, whenever possible, smart companies are leveraging remote/hybrid work to recruit and retain valuable employees.
