Born on June 16, 1982, in a small town, I had a challenging upbringing. Raised by a young mother without my biological father in the picture, I always felt different but couldn’t quite understand why. Despite this, my childhood was filled with sports, church, and the typical activities of small-town life.
As my high school years came to an end, my classmates excitedly discussed college acceptances, but I felt lost. No one in my family had attended college, and no one had ever encouraged me to pursue higher education. When I finally sought guidance from my counselor, I was told I wasn’t “college material.” This realization hit me hard – I was on my own.
Determined to change my path, I enrolled in a community college to improve my grades and explore the possibility of attending a university. It was there that I met a charismatic gay student who would become a close friend. His openness about his sexuality and his popularity on campus opened my eyes to a world I had never experienced before.
One night, he invited me to a gay bar, and that experience was a turning point for me. Seeing individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures embracing their identities was both eye-opening and liberating. It challenged my small-town mindset and sparked a newfound sense of self-discovery and acceptance.
This journey of self-discovery and acceptance ultimately led me to embrace my own identity and to break free from the limitations that had held me back for so long. It was a transformative moment that set me on a path of personal growth, self-acceptance, and the courage to embrace my true self.
Having come from a small town where dreams seemed distant and struggles were a daily reality, my college experience was a turbulent journey filled with barriers, addiction, legal injustices, heartbreaks, and aches that tested my strength to the core. But looking back, I understand how each challenge had shaped me into the resilient person I had to become.
There was a time in my life when fear and uncertainty gripped me at my lowest point. Holidays during that time were spent alone,and usually consisted of tears flowing freely down my face. But in those dark moments, I found the strength to pull myself out of the abyss, determined to forge a new path for myself.
After graduating, securing my first corporate job was a significant milestone, but it soon revealed a harsh truth. The toxic culture of “playing the game” within the company’s leadership left me feeling out of place. While others thrived on manipulation and deceit, I merely wanted to do honest, good business.
The turning point came when I witnessed the vice president of the company commit heinous acts of sexual assault and embezzlement without facing any consequences. The injustice and lack of accountability shook me to the core, leading to my unjust layoff without a valid reason.
Despite the setbacks and betrayals, I refused to be defeated. Each trial only fueled my determination to stand up for what was right and seek justice for those who had been wronged. The challenges I faced had not broken my spirit but had ignited a fire within me to create a better, more ethical world.
In the winter of 2022, after being laid off, I made a bold decision to share with my fiancé – my dream of starting my own commercial services company. As I expressed my desire to create something meaningful and build a future on my own terms, Kolten, my fiancé, initially reacted with surprise and skepticism. However, he soon came to understand the passion and determination burning within me about this venture; realizing that this journey would challenge and transform our lives in ways they had never imagined.
With unwavering determination and a vision for a brighter future, I founded TNT Commercial Services 615. This venture was not just a business endeavor but a platform for giving back to my community in profound and impactful ways. Through our company, we were able to support and empower organizations that championed true diversity and inclusivity, a cause close to my heart.
As TNT Commercial Services 615 flourishes, It’s my goal for our company to become a beacon of hope and inspiration, embodying the values of compassion, integrity, and community support. It was not just about profits and success but about making a positive difference within our Middle Tennessee community.
Together with my fiancé and marketing director Rachael Mason, we have learned how to navigate the challenges and triumphs of entrepreneurship, learning and growing with each step we take. The partnerships we create aren’t just about building a business and making profits but about building a life filled with purpose and meaning, united in our shared commitment to creating a better future for ourselves and those around us one step at a time.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Anything new has its bumps and struggles along the way. I always ensure that I’m prepared for the ride. So far, my journey has been a true blessing.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
The diversification that this city now offers is truly remarkable; however, it also fills me with a sense of melancholy to witness the changes that have transformed the Nashville of my upbringing.
I reminisce about a time when Nashville was recognized as the warmest and most welcoming city to visit, reflecting the genuine Southern hospitality that we have long been renowned for. Despite the continual growth and progress, I deeply cherish those essential values that have defined our community for so long.
Let us hope that amidst the changes, the spirit of the old Nashville, characterized by its kindheartedness and hospitality, will endure and remain a fundamental part of our city’s identity
