Exploring Life & Business with Terry Barga of Nashville Fit Media. Marketing. Magazine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Terry Barga.

Hi Terry, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Some journeys are carefully mapped out. Others happen when you’re willing to take a leap, trust your instincts, and pour your energy into something bigger than yourself. My path to owning Nashville Fit Magazine was the latter.

After spending 18 years in the local Nashville Fit scene I had developed a great network of relationships, business accumen and a vision for what NFM could be. I have done everything in my life from contracting, electrical, writer, business coach, consultant, personal trainer, gym owner, and so much more. Everything in my life has lead me to this!

When Nashville Fit first came onto the scene, it quickly became more than just a magazine—it was a hub for people who believed health and wellness should be a lifestyle, not just a trend. I was one of those people. As an entrepreneur and community builder, I saw the potential for this platform to not only tell stories but to create movements, inspire action, and connect people across Middle Tennessee.

The opportunity to purchase the magazine came at a time when I was already thinking about how media, marketing, and events could be combined into something that genuinely changes lives. It wasn’t just about publishing articles or running a website—it was about creating a brand that stood for health, fitness, and community. So taking it full scale into a marketing agency felt like the natural choice. We are excited for the growth and for the future as we spread the love regionally first then nationally.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The struggle is real. From building a renewed trust in the ability of the brand post covid to finding the right team members that both have the knowledge and the stomach to push forward into what is unknown.
The hardest part of the entire journey is helping business owners understand that we are here to help no matter what. We often will spend and hour or more on a zoom call helping an owner for free just because we know what it’s like to struggle in this industry.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Since taking ownership, I’ve expanded Nashville Fit into much more than a magazine. Today, it’s a full-scale media, marketing, and events company. Here’s what we do and what we’re known for:
The Magazine – A trusted resource for fitness, health, and wellness in Middle Tennessee, known for highlighting real stories of athletes, trainers, and local businesses.
Podcasts & Radio – Platforms that give thought leaders and entrepreneurs a voice to inspire, educate, and grow their reach.
YouTube & Digital Media – Video content that mixes education with entertainment, building authentic connections with a broader audience.
Events & Expos – From the Music City Fit Expo to the Fit Pro Success Summit, Nashville Fit is known for creating experiences where people connect, learn, and grow together.
Marketing & Business Services – We help businesses thrive through geo-tagging, commercial production, advertising on streaming services, and full-scale fractional CMO services.
Nashville Fit has become known for its ability to connect health and fitness professionals with the community, while also giving businesses the tools they need to grow. We’ve built a reputation for being more than a publication—we’re a movement that elevates local voices and puts Middle Tennessee on the map as one of the healthiest, most connected regions in the country.

What does success mean to you?
Building solid relationships.
