Hidden Gems: Meet Amy Bone of Amy’s Elite Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Bone.

Hi Amy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Hello, I’m Amy Bone with Amy’s Elite Events, LLC. I was born and raised in Nashville, TN in 1977. Being raised by a single parent after a divorce taught me to work hard.

I was the only child that my mom had but I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth. My mother worked three jobs to make ends meet. I’m now almost 45 years old and basically have three jobs because being a mother of two boys is a job in itself.

I started my finance career in 1995 right after high school. I left college at MTSU when my mother was diagnosed with cancer. I’ve now been in banking for well over 25 years.

On the side, I’ve done several events for family and friends in the last 10 years. I enjoyed it so much that I took a course and became a “Certified Event Planner”. After studying for three hours, I took the exam. The exam allowed me 90 minutes, but I finished in 11 minutes flat and made a 100. I knew then that this was my calling. After being certified, I went from doing small to large events. I took a leap of faith and started my small business during a world pandemic with Covid spreading all over.

I started posting my work on the Facebook marketplace, then ventured out to Thumbtack Pro when it got too overwhelming having 20-30 messages daily. I’m now on Facebook/Instagram business pages, a website, Google, and Thumbtack. During the pandemic last year in 2021, I did 30 out of 35 events on my own.

This year I turned my small business into an LLC. I knew there would be struggles, competition, and hard work, but I’m here and ready for it all. While others are out enjoying life on vacations and partying, I’m working all night after working during the day all while being a wife and mom of two.

Prepping for large events and weddings as well as doing balloon garlands in your living room is not easy. I’ve now started hiring help for prepping. I’m like the Wizard of Oz or the woman behind the curtain. Telling people how to set up and tear down events is the easy part.

I’m very detailed in my work and pour all my energy into each event as if they were my own. I like to give all my clients matching color/theme candy and bags for their events so that they have some type of favor for their guests. It’s another thing that I enjoy because it makes people happy.

Above all at the end of the day, the joy in my heart from putting smiles on others’ faces is priceless. Amy’s Elite Events, LLC is setting the stage for lasting memories. Check us out soon!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?

Starting a business is hard. It was a bit rough building my clientele, inventory, and trying to keep my house from looking like a warehouse. It’s a struggle doing balloons with children trying to pop them or going through your breakables while prepping for weddings.

I am very detailed and have extremely detailed lists but twice some things got left behind from being in a rush. You just have to go get them or keep it moving. There are always going to be obstacles standing in your way. For instance, I’ve fought the wind twice already.

Things fell off the table, broke, almost rolled down the hill, and blew away while doing events. Some days are easy, while on other days it seems every step you take, you’re having to take 10 steps backward.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Amy’s Elite Events, LLC?
I plan, organize, set up, and tear down small and large events. I do more birthdays and baby showers than weddings. I recently did my first Quinceañera. I couldn’t help but tear up since I’ve been wanting to do one for three years now. I actually specialize in balloons.

Every time I get on Facebook, people are constantly mentioning me in groups. Here lately I’ve been chosen by many after these referrals. I’m known for being different than others. I have my own creative thoughts and just create custom things if I can’t find them. I’m most proud of my loyalty.

No matter what, I make things happen for my clients. If I’m sick, then I pay others to set up/tear down. I’d like for everyone to know that I pride myself on my work. I stay up without sleep sometimes so they have everything they need to make their day special.
