Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Lowe.
Hi Ashley, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My husband and I moved to Clarksville, TN in June of 2011 with our two children, which was a big change for us being from a small town in Kentucky. Shortly after we moved, I stumbled across a Craigslist post for an embroidery machine for sale for $100.
I had always wanted one and figured I would give it a go! I started out by making personalized shirts for my kids. When I would post on Facebook, I would get requests from friends asking if I could make their kid’s personalized shirts too. For me, it was a hobby that I enjoyed doing, and never thought of it as a business before.
Over time, I grew comfortable with embroidery and sought to expand my craft. This led to my purchase of a silhouette cameo and a heat press. It was definitely a game-changer from what I had previously done with embroidery. I could do bigger and more colorful designs.
I did this type of personalization for 6-7 years until I recently upgraded to sublimation. With this, the possibilities are endless with design capabilities. I decided to look for different ways to personalize and a laser engraver caught my eye. This would help me broaden my horizons and be able to personalize more than just shirts and mugs!
In December of 2020, I decided to rebrand myself because I didn’t feel like this was a hobby anymore; it had flourished into a small business. So I came up with Doodle Prints Design. I got our new name from my love of Goldendoodles.
We own six Goldendoodles (yeah I know it sounds crazy but we love it!). My logo is line art of a photo of my Goldendoodle Maximus and myself. In October of 2021, I decided to quit my full-time job to invest in my business and fulfill my vision for Doodle Prints Design.
I never thought that I would be where I am today and that’s not without the support of my customers and family that believe in my passion!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a rocky road but I can tell you it takes dedication and consistency. You have to really believe in yourself. A lot of times I had self-doubt, but I have to remember why I started.

I specialize in personalization.
This ranges from mugs, shirts, sweatshirts, door hangers, and signs, to hats, ornaments, keychains, lanyards, and earrings; the list goes on. Our main specialty is shirts, leather patch hats with custom logos, and personalized wood-engraved ornaments.
I love being able to make products for small businesses. This also helps me get to know our community and support local businesses! Who doesn’t love to wear a shirt or hat that shows their support for that small business they love?
These custom items are great for small businesses to promote themselves. It can also be a gift for a family member, new baby, friend, significant other, or coworker. Or maybe a birthday or holiday you want to celebrate. We can make anything custom to your heart’s content.
