Hidden Gems: Meet Brandie Johnson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandie Johnson.

Hi Brandie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Photography has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My family loved to document everything no matter how simple the day was and we would record home videos, fill scrapbooks and photo albums with all of the memories we collected. When I moved to Nashville in 2015, I was gifted a camera to document my life, travels, and share with my family, who lives 8 hours away in Texarkana.

Over the last three years, I have pivoted from hobbyist photographer to owning my own business, HiBrandie LLC. My focus is branding and content creation photos for women-owned businesses. I’ve worked with so many different professions; bartenders, real estate agents, musicians, plus-size/body inclusive influencers, crystal shop owners, etc. I’m so excited to see how many other amazing women I will help in the years to come!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nothing is ever easy. I had no idea what I wanted to do when I first decided to take photos for people. I tried photographing couples, an elopement or two, food & drinks, before I had a friend of mine asked me to do lifestyle photos for her real estate page. After that day, I completely rebranded, took down my website, and set up a new package that would cater to businesses at all levels.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am most proud of how my clients see the value in hiring me many times throughout the year for different projects.

What are your plans for the future?
I’m looking forward to traveling more and working with women all around the world. Right now, I have plans to go to Chicago, Miami, St. Augustine, and Little Rock for some new clients!
