Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Meyers.
Hi Brandon, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I grew up in a farming community in northwest Indiana. I was introduced to a local farm veterinarian at a young age and started working with him through my teenage years and grew a love for animals! I pursued a degree in animal sciences from Purdue University and continued on to receive my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Glasgow in Scotland.
Although I grew up around farm animals, I have a soft spot in my heart for cats and dogs and mainly specialize in small animal medicine. I recently relocated to Nashville to be closer to my family and assist in opening ReadiVet’s newest office here in Nashville!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
After ReadiVet’s quick success in Dallas and Atlanta, the pressure was on me to follow in their footsteps and create a successful practice here in Nashville. The veterinary industry has remained steadfast in the sense that care is provided in a brick-and-mortar environment.
The concept of in-home veterinary care is new and surprising to those that hear about it, but surprising in a good way! Visiting clients and their pets in their homes allows us to develop a closer relationship with them and provide veterinary care to the highest standards.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
ReadiVet provides veterinary care for cats and dogs in the comfort of your home. Our veterinary team arrives at your door fully prepared to care for your pet. We can provide 85% of care at the home. From vaccines to sick care, we handle it all! If your pet needs more care than can be provided at home, such as x-rays or surgery, we can transport your pet to our fully-equipped clinic and back.
What sets us apart is also what I am most proud of; due to the nature of in-home care, we are able to spend more time with our patients and clients which provides a significant decrease in the pet’s stress and anxiety levels. We have the opportunity to visit them in the environment where they are most comfortable, allowing us to better diagnose and provide care.
What makes ReadiVet standout is that we are able to provide care to pets who without in-home care, may otherwise go without receiving vet care at all. We often visit senior pets and when deemed appropriate, offer end-of-life care and in-home euthanasia. Pet owners with multiple pets or large pets also benefit from our services as they no longer have to lug them to the vet. The same goes for cats. I can speak from experience – there are many other things I’d rather do than attempt to get my cat into a carrier!
ReadiVet offers the convenience of booking your pet’s appointment online at www.readivet.com or calling/texting our office at 605-970-7307.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite part of my childhood, looking back, was being able to spend every day on the farm with my grandparents, caring for the animals and the land.
