Today we’d like to introduce you to Dan Bird
Dan, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve been in this industry for many years, starting out as a one-man show doing repair work. Over time, as I gained more experience in the field, I began taking on larger and more diverse projects, growing my skill set and adding members to my team. I started the business in 2010, and by 2014, I obtained my general contractor’s license. It’s been a journey filled with blood, sweat, and tears, but alongside a dedicated team, we’ve fought hard to build this company. Our vision has always been to “build with integrity” and challenge the stereotypes often associated with construction professionals. From my humble beginnings working out of the basement of my East Nashville home, we’ve grown to our own office space. Together, my team and I have worked tirelessly to develop systems, administration, and the character necessary to service clients from all walks of life, handling projects of every shape and size. We’ve been blessed to earn a distinguished reputation among Nashville’s many esteemed local businesses.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been smooth sailing. The path has been anything but easy. Pursuing our company’s goals has often felt like an uphill battle. Our commitment to providing quality work and transparency in all our processes sometimes makes us less competitive in the industry. On the job, things don’t always go as planned, and as a general contractor, I bear the responsibility for the teams we bring on. Navigating relationships in this field has been one of the biggest challenges, but it’s also where I’ve learned the most. The COVID-19 shutdown posed another major obstacle, but to my surprise, it turned out to be one of our most profitable seasons. Thanks to diligent planning and long hours of hard work, we pulled through. Every challenge has been an opportunity to gain new skills and push us to strive harder.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We’re a licensed general contractor, and we take on projects of all kinds. What sets us apart is the streamlined systems we’ve developed, allowing us to treat every project with the same level of care and precision. Even if we aren’t the right fit for a specific job, it’s important to me that everyone who comes to us receives guidance, customer service, and the respect they deserve. We’re known for our organization, communication, and ethics. While we can’t control every aspect of a project, we’ll always do right by our customers and stand by our values. We’re proud to be part of the BBB Integrity Foundation and honored to have received recognition through the Torch Awards for Ethics, both regionally and internationally. Our work has also been featured twice on HGTV and in Architectural Digest, and we’ve had the privilege of collaborating with some of the most talented interior designers in the industry.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
My advice would be this: persistence is key. It’s important to find ways to stand out and be memorable, beyond just delivering on your promises. That’s how you make a real impact. The basics—like picking up the phone, showing up when you say you will, and keeping your word—are what truly stand out and make all the difference.
