Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Garrett Paulson, DC.
Dr. Garrett, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My wife and I met in college at the University of Dayton and got married shortly after graduate school. I graduated from Life University (just like my dad) as a Doctor of Chiropractic, and my wife earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Emory University. When we started our programs, we both fully expected to work with adults and pediatrics wasn’t part of the original plan.
Chiropractic has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I was adjusted my whole life and grew up watching my dad run his practice in Michigan. That example left a lasting impression on me. Still, it wasn’t until I began working in a pediatric chiropractic office that everything really clicked. I saw firsthand how impactful nervous system focused chiropractic care can be for kids and how much families were searching for that kind of support.
After moving to Hendersonville, it became clear there was a real need for pediatric and perinatal chiropractic care here. With a lot of prayer, planning, and a little courage, my wife and I decided to take the leap together. After years of dreaming and preparing, we opened Connected Kids Chiropractic in October 2025. Today, we get to serve moms, babies, and kids and it’s so rewarding to serve our community.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been a few bumps in the road, but it’s definitely been worth it.
One of the biggest challenges has been the learning curve. There’s a lot you don’t learn in school about running a business, and we definitely learned some of those lessons the hard way. From unexpected delays while building out our space to navigating the uncertainty that comes with opening a new practice, there were plenty of moments where we had to pivot and problem-solve on the fly.
Another challenge has been balancing the roles of doctor and business owner. I have a huge heart for my patients, and sometimes it feels like I could always been doing more. One of the biggest challenges has been learning to wear two very different hats, caring for patients while also running a business. Learning how to balance them has been a constant, evolving process.
That said, once I started seeing patients consistently and watching families experience real changes like better sleep, improved digestion, decreased anxiety, and more comfortable pregnancies it brought everything back into focus! Those moments keep our “why” front and center and remind me exactly why we took this leap in the first place.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Connected Kids Chiropractic ?
Connected Kids Chiropractic is a pediatric and perinatal chiropractic office built around individualized, nervous-system-focused care. We specialize in working with pregnant women, infants, and children, always tailoring care to each patient’s unique circumstances.
What truly sets us apart is our philosophy. We use gentle, neurologically focused techniques tailored to each patient, including Gonstead, Torque, and Webster pregnancy techniques. Along with this, we use nervous-system INSIGHT scans, which give us a comprehensive glimpse into how the nervous system is functioning and allows us to objectively track progress over time.
Additionally, we don’t believe in long, rigid care plans. Instead, we continually reassess and adapt because we know growth and healing aren’t linear and families deserve care that evolves with them!
Brand-wise, I’m incredibly proud of the environment we’ve created. Our office feels calm, welcoming, and family-centered. Parents often tell us it feels different the moment they walk in, even saying “it’s the best 20 minutes of their day” and that means everything to us. Our goal has always been to create a space where families feel safe, heard, and genuinely cared for.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
We have so many people to credit! First and foremost, our families and parents have been our biggest supporters from day one. Their encouragement and belief in us through every high and low has meant more than we can put into words.
Professionally, I’ve been incredibly blessed with mentors. Dr. Tony Ebel at PWC Chiropractic played a huge role in shaping how I care for kids and helped me truly understand the importance of pediatric chiropractic for nervous system health. Dr. Pete Brettingen, who mentored me during my clinical rotations in Minnesota, taught me the ropes of opening and running a business, pushing me to open our own!
And finally, none of this would exist without my wife. She’s my sounding board for my big ideas (even if only one in four actually sticks), has an incredible eye for design, and has such a big heart for what we do. She brings new insights from her background in pediatric physical therapy and genuinely cares for every single family who walks through our doors. Connected Kids Chiropractic is a reflection of both of us, and I’m grateful every day that I get to build it alongside her.
Last but not least, our patients and our wonderful staff (Gina & Jennifer) are a huge part of what makes our office so special. Each and every one of them contributes in a big way, and we truly love having them as part of the Connected Kids family.
