Hidden Gems: Meet Dr. Toya White of Evergreen Chiropractic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Toya White.

Hi Dr. Toya , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
If you would’ve told me ten years ago that I’d become a Gonstead Chiropractor in Nashville, I probably would’ve laughed. Not because I didn’t like chiropractic—becoming a doctor and saving lives had always been my dream—but because chiropractic care wasn’t even on my radar. A year before enrolling in chiropractic school, I had never even been to a chiropractor.

In the midst of chasing my dream, my health took an unexpected turn: I began having unexplained seizures. Like most, I turned to traditional medicine for help—but nothing worked. After months of frustration and no clear answers, a friend suggested I try chiropractic care and I did. That decision changed everything. Ultimately, it was Gonstead chiropractic care that gave my relief. My seizures completely stopped.

So, I enrolled in chiropractic school. While studying, I pursued advanced training in the Gonstead technique. Today, I have the privilege of offering that same precise and powerful care to families across Nashville.

Becoming a chiropractor wasn’t part of my original plan—but I believe it was always part of my purpose. And every time a patient walks into my office searching for answers, I’m reminded why I do this work.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not—it has been anything but smooth.

For one, chiropractic school was no joke. People think it’s just about learning how to adjust spines—but it’s a full-on medical education. I’m talking anatomy, neuroanatomy, biochem, pathology, psychology, infectious disease, clinical nutrition, and every organ system, inside and out. There were definitely moments I thought, “Is there a refund policy for this?” But thanks to the support of my friends, family, and mentors, I pushed through—and I’m so glad I did.

Another struggle was learning the Gonstead technique alongside everything else in chiro school. Gonstead is the most precise, results-driven chiropractic method out there and also the hardest technique to master. It wasn’t part of our required curriculum, so I spent extra hours outside of class training in it. It was so hard, but totally worth it. I believe my patients deserve the absolute best and that’s Gonstead.

Now, the DAILY struggle is helping people unlearn the “quick fix” mindset and that the road to true healing takes time and is not paved friend. It’s not always easy—but it’s why I do what I do. Every struggle just adds more purpose to the mission and I love it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
