Hidden Gems: Meet Elizabeth Moore of Wild Sage & Supply Co.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Moore.

Hi Elizabeth, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started making candles as a hobby – while I was in high school my sister had a small candle side hustle, and when she left for college, being the classic little sister, as soon as she was gone, I snuck into her room and started experimenting. It started small, just off and on for a couple years, until I started getting more requests to create regularly, so I redid the branding, put together a website, and six months later here I am!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Hahaha… Probably not… One of the biggest struggles for sure was the name. Originally, I was publishing under different name, and when I was first making everything official with the state of Tennessee, I found out that the name was already taken. So, in order to become a licensed business and move forward, the name all my customers knew the business by would have to change. After a lot (too much lol) of input from friends and family, I landed on what it is now, Wild Sage & Supply Co, and have been very happy with it. The name change will also allow me to expand to include non-candle products under the same umbrella in the future.

Of course, making candles is often a tedious and meticulous process, so I have found that challenging along the way too. I also always try to use the highest quality supplies and be very environmentally/toxin conscious about my products – so staying vigilant and not taking the easy way out while still making an affordable candle is always a challenge, but one I am happy to take on 🙂

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Candles! We do 100% soy wax, phthalate-free, cotton wick candles, hand-poured with all the hopes and dreams of a girl trying to make it in the candle industry! We do 1 wick and 3 wick candles, with four year-round scents and an additional four scents for every major holiday/season, all available on our website, wildsageandsupplyco.com! If you’re interested, we also sell sample kits to help you find your next favorite scent!

I’m proud of the quality of our product. I feel weird bragging about it haha, but personally, I put a lot of work into making sure the candle the customer gets has the best supplies and is as high quality as can be! Customer satisfaction is really important to me and we try to respond as quickly as possible to help, whether it’s answering emails or DMs on our Instagram page(@wildsageandsupplyco).

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
I’m a home business so I consider myself lucky to have avoided most of the effects of the pandemic on small businesses by being able to create candles in my home studio.

Pricing:

  • 1 Wick – $15
  • 3 Wick – $25
  • Sample Scent Kit – $6
