Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Schneider.
Hannah, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I actually got my start working in restaurants, and I quickly learned that I loved hospitality at a young age. I started my first social media company when I was eighteen years old, and I was working at a fine dining steakhouse in San Diego. They ended up becoming one of my first clients. I then had the opportunity to move to Austin and continue a career in events and private dining sales, and then moved to New York several years later to help my sister open and run her restaurant, Egg Shop. I moved to Nashville in 2015 to help partner and open a restaurant called Salt and Vine in which I got to completely build this from scratch, including hiring all of the staff, building out the menu, and running the restaurant. During this time, I really saw a boom happening in Nashville and with all my former marketing and social media experience in hospitality, thought it would be a perfect market to open my agency and an office here. I started Hannah Schneider Creative in New York and quickly moved it to Nashville. I opened Kettner Coffee Supply a few years later after feeling like there was a void in the coffee market at the time and since then have been running various businesses throughout New York, Nashville, and California.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I don’t think any entrepreneur would consider their path smooth unless they are completely lying to themselves. There have been incredibly fulfilling moments and chapters, but in general, I think it requires an incredibly self aware human to be able to open and operate businesses. I think people see the fun and glamour of it all, but it’s also incredibly isolating. And there’s always trials and challenges. If you think about it, when you’re the business owner, no one comes to you with the good things. They only come to you with the problems, and so you’re constantly putting out fires all day. I used to laugh and say that my title was a firefighter, not a CEO. But I have learned to surround myself with incredible people, and that helps alleviate a lot of the struggles.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Hannah Schneider Creative ?
I recently announced the relaunch of Hannah Schneider Creative, which is my consulting agency. I sold my PR agency BRND House almost three years ago, and it was a really incredible chapter. Now, I am really looking forward to working more directly with founders and brands that need a strategic executive level thinker in their corner. I think when I was running my former agency and other businesses, I relied on incredible teams to help fulfill the services. And now I’m really excited to get my hands dirty again and work directly with other business owners. I will say I am primarily known for my work within the lifestyle, hospitality, and luxury marketing industry. I think what has set us apart is that when I opened my agency ten years ago, I had moved from New York, and it was really a much faster paced operation than I think existed here at the time. I’m probably best known for all of the hotels and restaurants that I’ve had the pleasure of helping open over the past decade here in Nashville. And, also, for the different businesses that I’ve owned and operated myself. I am a proud mom to a six year old daughter and a five time founder. So I’ve been in the entrepreneur space in Nashville now for quite some time.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I actually have a really interesting career path, and I think people might be surprised to know that I barely finished high school, and I didn’t do any sort of college. I went straight into the workforce and worked my way up from an intern. And I worked multiple jobs until I had a fully staffed office here in Nashville.
