Hidden Gems: Meet Jake Tiesler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jake Tiesler.

Jake, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?

I am a Nashville native who helps Brides and Bachelorettes get into shape before their big day!

I have also had the privilege to work with André 3000 from Outkast, royal family members, princes and princesses, successful startup CEOs, professional athletes, musicians and more.

When I was 12, I learned how to build muscle and lose fat from my uncle who was a bodybuilder, I then went to get an education in Human Physiology and Chemistry from MTSU for medical school.

After competing in a bodybuilding competition in college and graduating, I had a change of plans and went to Los Angeles for 11 years.

I had met a girl who was a trainer/model and I wanted to pursue my fitness dreams in Southern California.

It was a rude awakening, I ended up living in my car on the streets of Hollywood with no job, no friends, no family and no more relationships.

I then got a job parking cars in Beverly Hills as a valet, met a lifelong friend who let me stay on his couch in a Beverly Hills studio apartment for 6 months while I saved up money.

I then landed my first clients in the Hollywood hills, producer of the movie “White Men Can’t Jump” and her friend, the wife of Marlin Brando’s architect who helped with the Tahitian islands projects.

I then landed my second big client, a prince who was the Foreign Minister’s son of an ally country.

This was the beginning of my career.

I started getting so busy that I quit my valet job and focused on traveling around Venice, Marina Del Rey and Santa Monica to provide nutrition and personal training to the community.

The best part is getting to know a client and working with them through the ups and downs of their lives, helping them stay on a schedule and stay focused.

You could say that I end up being somewhat of a therapist(listening ear) and also life coach as much as a trainer but I still provide the structure and guidance to reach goals.

After 11 years of helping people in Los Angeles and enjoying the mountains on my motorcycle, I decided to return to Nashville, my hometown where I was born and raised.

Los Angeles is great but I had done everything there that I desired, now I bring my experience and knowledge back to the community I was born and raised in.

I want to share what I have learned to inspire others to go for their goals, get them out of their anxiety, depression and low energy states and to create a life that they want through goal setting, creating schedules and a little discipline.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has not been smooth at all, it’s really difficult going to a different country AKA California and starting from your car on the streets of Hollywood.

I even tried to get into medical school, became an EMT and was volunteering at the hospital but ultimately failed, I gave up and decided to put all my eggs into training clients.

Then once you become successful, you also have to deal with having too much free time(like an early retiree).

So the solution is to create a goal, create a schedule and stick to the schedule.

I think exercise should be the top priority on the daily schedule.

You learn a lot about hopelessness, despair, animosity and frustration.

BUT you then also learn how to get out of the worst of the worst situations.

I’ve been fat and sad, now I’m healthy happy and wealthy and I can help others get there because I’ve been to the bottom and back up.

Exercise is the foundation of a good life.

If you are lost in life just focus on one thing that you can control, exercise daily.

If you feel a little low, exercise.

If you are uncertain about things, go exercise.

Exercise works as well as antidepressants and then you also get the long-term health benefits of stronger bones, increased testosterone, discipline and many more.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I help bachelorettes drop fat fast before their big day!

Bachelorettes contact me 3-4 months prior to coming to Nashville, I put them on a nutrition program and training routine so that they all shed pounds before they arrive and are in the best shape of their lives.

Then, once they are in town, I host a VIP Brides Bootcamp with photoshoot, 24/7 text access on nutrition and training for accountability and support.

I’m proud of the progress my clients make in their lives as I work with them.

My experience sets me apart, working with a wide arrange of clients from celebrities, start-up CEOs, stay home moms, fitness models, lawyers, architects, nurses, PAs, doctors, you name it and I’ve had the opportunity to work with them.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Honesty is most important in order to keep the integrity with the client.

If the client doesn’t trust you, they won’t make progress.
