Hidden Gems: Meet Jamison Worley of Worley Nutrition Group PLLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamison Worley

Hi Jamison, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My love for nutrition started in college. I was an athlete and took on a summer internship working with the sports dietitian at UTK. This is where I learned all of the in’s and out’s of this field. From there, I moved up to Boston, MA to do graduate school and my dietetic internship program. One of my rotations was at Harvard with the sports nutrition department. This is where I first found out about eating disorders tied in with sport. After graduate school, I moved back to Tennessee and took on my first job at a residential treatment center working with eating disorders and disordered eating. From there, I migrated back in to the world of sports and athletes and helped to start up the nutrition program at a local orthopedic/PT/concierge medicine facility. After 2 years at this job, I decided to venture out on my own while also working part-time at a local hospital in their outpatient program. My practice was a “side hustle” for about 2 years and finally in 2020, it had grown substantially that I walked away from my part-time job and went full-time private practice. My practice continued to grow and in 2021, I hired on two other dietitians to work for me. Today, I have one other employee and we continue to grow!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not! I think the biggest struggle has been letting fear get in the way. As I look back, having my own practice was almost a no-brainer from the beginning but I would not let myself take that leap of faith. I worked one day a week for a little over 2 years without any marketing knowing every day I could grow the business but would not let myself. This is something I always tell colleagues in the field who ask about starting their own practice: just do it. You can never plan for it and it just needs to happen.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Worley Nutrition Group PLLC?
We are a dietetic practice specializing in eating disorders, sports nutrition, women’s health, and nutrition through pregnancy. Our mission is to help our clients recognize why we fuel our body and how we utilize food as a connection with our bodies and self. The most important aspect of our business is that we believe that education is empowerment. There is so much misinformation out there (especially in the world of social media) around nutrition and fueling our bodies. We focus on educating and treating the whole-person.

What sets us apart: A lot of nutrition practices in the area have niches or specialties that they work with. One of the main pieces of my business that I am proud of is to be a catch-all for all consumers/clients. My specialty directly lies within sports nutrition and eating disorders. I purposely hire on other dietitians who have specialties in other areas to serve a larger population. Emily, the dietitian that works with me currently, specializes in women’s health nutrition – specifically PCOS, hormones, diabetes, perimenopause and pregnancy.

We offer 1on1 nutrition counseling appointments as well as specific groups throughout the year. We are currently running a virtual, community group on PCOS. To find out more about groups, visit our website and sign up for our newsletter, The Tuesday Toast, that comes out every Tuesday filled with information, education and group happenings.
