Hidden Gems: Meet Jazmine Taylor of TaylorMadeHR

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jazmine Taylor.

Hi Jazmine, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey into Human Resources started with a deep curiosity about people; how they think, how they work, and how workplace environments shape their well-being. I pursued a degree in Applied Psychology from the University of Michigan and later earned my MBA in Human Resource Management from Trevecca Nazarene University, which gave me both the psychological and operational foundation to understand the workplace at a deeper level.

As I began working in HR across different industries in both the private and public sectors, I noticed a consistent gap: employees often didn’t understand their rights, and many small to mid-sized organizations lacked the structure to support compliant, people-centered workplaces. That realization led me to create TaylorMadeHR.

TaylorMadeHR was built to bridge that gap. What started as sharing educational content online has grown into a consulting and digital resource platform focused on workplace empowerment, compliance, and clarity. Today, I support both employees and organizations through HR consulting, digital guides, and training resources that simplify complex labor laws and workplace practices. My goal has always been to make HR accessible, practical, and protective; not just for companies, but for the people within them

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve had to navigate building something from the ground up while balancing a full-time career in HR. There were moments of doubt; especially when trying to establish credibility in a space where many people only see HR from a corporate lens, not as an independent resource or business.

Another challenge was learning how to position TaylorMadeHR in a way that clearly communicates its value. HR is often reactive, but I wanted to build something proactive; focused on prevention, education, and empowerment. That required shifting mindsets, not just marketing services.

Personally, I’ve also experienced significant growth and change over the past few years. Navigating life transitions while building a business forced me to develop discipline, resilience, and clarity about my purpose. Those challenges shaped how I show up today; not just as an HR professional, but as someone committed to helping others feel informed and protected in their work environments.

Each obstacle reinforced that this work is needed. It pushed me to refine my voice, strengthen my offerings, and stay consistent even when results weren’t immediate

We’ve been impressed with TaylorMadeHR, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
A Little About TaylorMadeHR…

After years of working in Human Resources and seeing how often employees feel powerless, I created TaylorMadeHR. a space to help people understand their workplace rights, emotional intelligence, and the laws that protect them.
I share practical HR education, EEOC case breakdowns, workplace tips, and emotional intelligence tools to help you advocate for yourself and create healthier workplaces. Whether you’re an employee, HR professional, or leader;
you deserve to work in an environment that values equity, empathy, and accountability

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up in Detroit, Michigan, I’ve always been naturally observant and curious about people. I paid attention to how people interacted, how decisions were made, and how different environments shaped behavior. My parents played a huge role in that. They were very intentional about making sure I was well rounded and exposed to different environments, perspectives, and experiences. They always reinforced that I could be anything I wanted if I put my mind to it and that I wasn’t limited by my surroundings. That mindset stayed with me.

I’ve always been goal oriented and independent. Once I decide I want something, I stay committed to seeing it through. At the same time, I’ve always had a strong sense of fairness. I never liked seeing people treated unfairly or misunderstood, and that’s something that still shows up in the work I do today.

After undergrad at the University of Michigan, I moved to Nashville for grad school, which was a completely different environment from Detroit. Being at UofM really prepared me for that shift. It taught me how to navigate different spaces and adapt. What was supposed to be a temporary move turned into something more. After the pandemic, I decided to stay, and I’ve been able to grow in ways I couldn’t have imagined, personally, mentally, and in my career.

Nashville is at a unique point of growth right now, and I love that I get to be part of it. Being able to build TaylorMadeHR here and contribute my own perspective and impact to a city that’s evolving so quickly means a lot to me. When I look back, everything from how I was raised to the environments I’ve experienced has shaped not just my work ethic, but my purpose.
