Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Beam.
Hi Jennifer, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always loved creating beautiful spaces and making a home feel warm, welcoming, and collected. Long before I officially started my business, I was constantly rearranging rooms, helping family and friends with their homes, and dreaming about design.
In 2018, I took a leap of faith and started Grace By Designs. What began as a passion quickly grew through referrals, relationships, and clients trusting us with their homes. I truly believe God has guided this journey from the very beginning and continues to open doors along the way.
As a wife, mom of two, and business owner, building a company while raising a family hasn’t always been easy, but it has been incredibly rewarding. Those experiences have also shaped the way I design. I believe homes should not only be beautiful but should also function well for the families living in them and reflect their story.
Today, Grace By Designs is a full service interior design firm serving Middle Tennessee. We work on everything from new construction and renovations to furnishing and styling homes. Our goal is always to create timeless, inviting spaces that feel personal and truly reflect our clients. Looking back, I am so grateful for how much the business has grown since 2018, and I still feel just as passionate about design today as I did when I first started.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting and growing a business has definitely not been a completely smooth road. Like many small business owners, I’ve worn a lot of hats over the years, designer, project manager, bookkeeper, marketer, problem solver, and everything in between. Learning how to balance running a business while also being present for my family has been one of the biggest challenges.
There have also been challenges that come with the design industry itself. Shipping delays, damaged products, supply chain issues, and managing the many moving parts involved in renovations and installations. Not everything always goes according to plan, and I’ve learned that flexibility, communication, and grace go a long way.
One of the biggest lessons along the way has been learning to let go and trust others. Building a team and delegating didn’t come naturally to me because I care deeply about every detail. But over time, I’ve realized that surrounding yourself with the right people allows both you and your business to grow.
Every challenge has taught me something, and looking back, those obstacles have shaped both me and Grace By Designs into what we are today.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Grace By Designs?
Grace By Designs is built on the belief that a home should be both beautiful and deeply personal. We specialize in full-service interior design, helping clients navigate everything from new construction and major renovations to furnishings, styling, and finishing details.
Our approach is rooted in creating timeless, layered spaces that feel warm, inviting, and reflective of the families who live in them. We take the time to truly understand how our clients live day to day so that every design is not only visually appealing but also functional for real life.
What sets us apart is the experience we provide. Designing or renovating a home can feel overwhelming, and our goal is to guide clients through the process with clarity, communication, and care. We walk alongside our clients from concept to installation, handling the details so they can enjoy the process and feel confident in every decision.
As a brand, we’re most proud of the relationships we’ve built over the years. Much of our business has come through referrals and repeat clients, which speaks to the trust our clients place in us. At the end of the day, we love creating homes that tell our clients’ stories and become a place where memories are made for years to come.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success to me is about much more than business growth or numbers. Of course, I want Grace By Designs to continue growing, but I define success by the impact we’re making on the people we serve and the team I get to work alongside every day.
When clients trust us with their homes and tell us that we’ve created spaces where their families can gather, make memories, and truly feel at home, that’s success. Watching my team grow, use their gifts, and take pride in what we create together is another huge measure of success for me.
On a personal level, success also means having balance. Being able to build a business I’m passionate about while still being present for my husband and children is incredibly important to me. If I can go to bed knowing I’ve served others well, supported my team, and shown up for my family, I consider that a successful day.
