Hidden Gems: Meet Jeremy Fyke of Two Heads Hot Sauce

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremy Fyke, co-founder and one of the Heads, along with Casey Maples, in Two Heads Hot Sauce.

Hi Jeremy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My buddy Casey and I started hanging out and brewing beer together for fun. One night in Casey brought over a bottle of hot sauce we both liked. One night in Casey brought over a bottle of hot sauce we both liked. Casey can cook anything and loves to tinker in the kitchen. That night, as we both tried the hot sauce, Casey said he thought he could make a hot sauce as good or better than the one we tried.

Fast forward to 2020, in mid-September, Casey brought over a few bottles he made and they were amazing. Within a week, we made a small batch of 10 that sold in a few days. Then, a batch of 50 sold in two weeks. Then, another batch of 50 sold in 4 days. Within a few weeks, we formed an LLC and sold about 400 bottles the first eight weeks up until Christmas.

Today, in June 2021, Two Heads has sold thousands of bottles and is sold in 40 stores and counting around the middle/western Tennessee. We both work full time, in jobs completely outside of this business, so the hot sauce business has been something brand new we’ve had to learn in a hurry. It’s been fun, thrilling, and stressful all at once. What’s remained consistent is our friendship and love for making incredible sauce people love to eat.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
People like our sauce a lot, so having something that people like has been smooth. And we’ve found it easy at different times to get people to buy it once they try it. But overall, it’s definitely had its challenges and struggles. The biggest struggle has the time to build the business. There’s so much to learn and figuring our sales targets, markets, marketing, shipping/logistics, etc. is a real challenge. We’re having fun and enjoying it, but it’s definitely a lot to learn.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We make unique pepper blends, gourmet hot sauces that fit any flavor pallet and heat preference. Our sauces are unique because of the blends of pepper, the inclusion of ingredients like agave nectar and fresh fruits, and a signature sweet and smokey flavor.

Your readers should know that we have a sauce for anyone, including people who aren’t hot sauce people. One of the biggest compliments we get is from people who didn’t like the hot sauce at all but love our sauce. We’ve converted so many people to hot sauce through some of our “conversion” sauces like P.S. Heat and Music City Heat. Our sauces, even ones that are hot, have our signature profile, “Heat you can taste.”

We’re most proud of the authenticity of the brand. We’re called Two Heads because we’re just two bald guys who are great friends who make incredible sauce. If you see us in Facebook posts and videos, we’re real and authentic. Our story is something I’m very proud of. We both work full time, but we take the time to build the business because we love reaching people with our sauces. Casey and I are both Christians, so our goal is to use the sauce to do good, give back, and serve God. Basically, food as a ministry!

What was your favorite childhood memory?
Probably playing baseball in the little league while my Dad was the coach for many years!
